Iran unveiled anti ship Zafar cruise missile

This is old news . This missile was shown couple of months back too....I thought there might be some new development....:smokin:

.
Beside the color, it does not seem to be the same thing.

How about these which are basically the same:

American Aim 9 B and Israeli Python 2:

Python-2 (more correctly Shafrir-2) looked quite similar to AIM-9, but was very different missile: different motor (15 cm instead of 12.7 cm), different warhead (11 kg instead of 9 kg), different guidance. Python-3/4/5 differ in everything.

. . .
What's the speed and weight of the warhead?
good to know that it's radar guided but I personally prefer that Iran builds missiles with cable guidance that are totally safe from the US powerful jamming technology, we should build them and have numerous launchers in our coastal waters.

Cable Guided you mean wire-guided? I think they cannot surpass few kilometres range, probably 5 km at most.. or educate me if a different cable guidance mechanism is available.

. . .
no doubt though it's nice missile seems like it would do great in fast speedy missions where you have take down a frigate and then run off after every hit

Crap. Python was a copy of Aim-9. Just look at those pictures above.

Could this be the Iranian version of the C-704?

This is not the "Iranian version of C-704" although there are some confusions. Some say C-704 is a joined production between Iran and China that is called Nasr-1 in Iran. Janes said that the missiles are developed for Iran and when TL-6 was unveiled in China in 2004, It's brochures were distributed in an Iranian exhibition.

Anyway these are much smaller than C-704 and it's wing positions are different. About the size of C-701 which is also produced in Iran as Kowsar (Another joined development). But C-701 is different from Zafar too. I think that Zafar is a C-701/704 hybrid.

I'm tired of your ignorance:

It is you who is ignorant. You have purposefully deleted out Python 1 and 2 which were copies of AIM-9. It goes to show that you are lying. Python 3, 4 and 5 were later on improved and redesigned on European technology. But you started off by copying Americans and begged for the technology from Americans and funded your projects by American tax payer money while you were never under sanctions as you have bribed the US congress and senate. Iran is doing it under sanctions and with their funds not by begging money from US and EU.

Python-1 and 2 never existed there are Shafrir-1/2. As I said Shafrir missiles had different sizes. They had 15 cm diameter compare to 12.7 cm for Sidewinder, difference warhead and guidance.

Python-4 was first Western missile with helmet cueing system. It had 60 degree off boresight angle compare to 45 degrees of Soviet R-73 and 25 degrees of AIM-9. Later this technology was used by Americans.

Python-5 was first missile in the world which uses 360 grad attack and thermal imaging homing.
