Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said Sunday that Iran has held its end of the bargain by taking the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline to the Pakistani border, but Pakistan has not yet taken any action in this regard.

“If Pakistan doesn’t take necessary actions in this regard Iran has no choice but to take legal actions,” he added.

Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said although Iran is able to increase its crude oil output by 100,000 barrels per day in less than few days but complying with OPEC, non-OPEC pact the country will keep the output at the agreed levels.

According to the minister, the increase in production levels would come from the West Karoun oilfields which Iran shares with Iraq.

“Oil production from the West Karoun fields has currently reached 305,000 barrels per day, 145,000 barrels more than last year’s 160,000 barrels,” Zanganeh said.

The official further noted that the country’s average daily oil production in the first ten months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2017- January 20, 2018) increased by 160,000 barrels compared to the figure for the last year’s same time span.

“The average exports in the same period also increased by 60,000 barrels on year,”

Developing shared fields is ministry’s priority

Elsewhere in his remarks, the minister stressed the development of shared fields as the ministry’s priority saying, “These fields will either be developed by domestic companies or will be assigned to strong foreign contractors.”

Asked about the potential foreign contractors for developing the fields, the minister didn’t mention any names due to security issues stating that negotiations are ongoing with domestic and foreign companies for development of the fields.

“Since there are always parties who try to intervene with contract signing processes, we prefer not to announce the names of companies with which the negotiations are close to conclusion,” the minister explained.

He stated that National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) is currently negotiating with over 20 foreign and domestic companies to sign contracts for the development of the country’s oil and gas fields.

West Karoun region includes five oilfields (Yadavaran, North Azadegan, South Azadegan, North Yaran, and South Yaran) Iran shares with Iraq in the western part of Iran’s southwestern region of Karoun.

Once again Pakistan showing incompetence in meeting its responsibilities.
Not on this occasion.

  • Gas from Iran is the perfect solution for Pakistan's energy deficit. Iran is ideal. It is right next door. It has some of the largest reserves in the world. Countries like Germany import their gas from 1,000s of miles in Russia or even Azerbaijan near Iran. Yet here is Pakistan with the Iranian pipeline tap on Pakistan border.

  • But the problem is Iran is subject to international sanctions. No bank or even pipeline company is prepared to get involved. For instance even the Chinese company pulled out of this deal lest it get sanctioned by US. The result is what you see. However Iran can't take Pakistan to court either as those courts are under US influence and would never give or entertain any Iranian legal action.

That Was 2010 Now Is Different Intl. Sanctions Are Gone. The Government Shelved The Gwadar Nawabshah Pipeline Which Was The Practically A Cover For IP Pipeline Plus LNG.Today We Could Have Replaced Our Entire Oil Imports With Gas Enjoying Massive Savings

Sorry Mr Zanganeh Pakistan has support of a very powerful guy inside Iran and I don't think he will allow you to go to the international courts for suing Pakistan  .

Iran-Turkey gas relationships

If I remember correctly we sued our Turkish brothers and won then they sued us in another case and they won right now its maybe 2-1 in favor of Turkey  .

Both Iran and Turkey enjoy same level of HDI ( .76 -.77 ) . it means its completely halal to sue them in courts and take their precious Lira on the other hand its halal for them to sue us and take our precious gas because the gap between us is very close but its different between Iran-Pakistan case as you can see there is a meaningful gap between us in HDI . and as long as this gap exist talking about suing and stuff like this will not help .right now its duty of Iran to help Pakistan's economy grow .

No. Iran needs to sue. Our leaders are stealing all of our money and resources.

Even "IF" our guys go to the courts and sue Pakistan and "IF" they win the case at the end they should invest that money in Pakistan + little bit extra investment from Iran so talks about suing and court are useless .

We need gas..... We also need good terms with Iran.
What better way is to go on with this project.
When tapi would be completed we would still have more demand as we are going towards industrialization and India too would be a customer.
Go ahead.
Saudia Arabia is very critical because we need money now a days, and we don't want to go to imf. American aid has ended but they would forget soon.
