TEHRAN (FNA)- Army Lieutenant Commander Brigadier General Mohammad Hossein Dadras announced that Iran's first home-made supersonic fighter jet, Kosar, has gone on line for mass-production.
"The defense ministry, in cooperation with the Air Force, is mass-producing the fighter jet," General Dadras said on Saturday.

He added that Kosar has undergone different ground and air operational tests by the Iranian Air Force experts for numerous hours.

"We have ordered this fighter jet for the Army," General Dadras said.

Iran last Tuesday unveiled Kosar which is equipped with avionics (aviation electronics) and fire-control systems.

Kosar was unveiled in a ceremony participated by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in Tehran who ordered the fighter jet to fly.

The new fighter jet uses the fourth generation of military digital network and is equipped with heads-up display (HUD) system to increase the precision-striking power of weapons, advanced and multi-purpose radar for fire-control to boost the precision to trace the targets and threats and high-precision navigation system.

Kosar can be manufactured in two types of single-cockpits and double-cockpits and the second type can be used for training pilots in addition to enjoying combat capabilities.

Meantime, Chairman of the Iran Aviation Industry Organization Amir Karim Bani Tarafi told FNA that the fighter jet which was unveiled on Tuesday is a supersonic combat plane different from the training Kosar 88 plane unveiled in April 2017.

Iran has made huge advances in developing different defense capabilities, including weapons and military equipment despite sanctions.

Any proof for this statement?

No, we should take your words over the word of Iranian officials

Iran is now able to mass produce this Kowsar, nothing is a preventing that. Even the engine is being produced by them, so explain to me exactly why you think Iran could not produce a few and give them to Syria?

.
I think it's a good move for Syria. Our allies have proven they're not worth their salt. You guys remember a little while ago when the Israeli F-16's would fly into Syria and the Air defences would not even turn on? This was baffling the Syrians, thanks to Iranian engineers they found out that Russia had given the Israelis the codes so they can identify themselves as friendlies. I read Russia was surprised and alarmed when they found out Iranians had re-programmed them with new codes. Boom! A month later F-16 shot down. The lesson here, Iranians are not Arabs....first lesson for those war planners fresh out of the military.
And still Israel Israel striking Syria weekly (See yasterday's electricity problems)
About F-16, even a broken clock is right twice a day

Simply experience. Experiences from observations of years, what Iran promises, fully announces and how little is realized in the end and simply the circumstance of the sanctions. And even if it's true, how big are the production capacities? That will hardly suffice for their own needs, let alone for export ... IMO this is nothing more than propaganda and before I buy that tiny fighter will be delivered in masses, I would love to see at least a few in Iranian Air Force service.

Please give me some examples of when Iranian officials make promises and little was realised. By your comments I am assuming you will give ample examples, so I am very interested to see.

As for sanctions, they are not a major issue if the components are produced inside the country which in the case of this fighter, they are. I mean what else do you want them to do? send us a personal invitation to see the manufacturing facilities?

And even if it's true, how big are the production capacities? That will hardly suffice for their own needs, let alone for export ...

Production capacities is something we would not know. We don't know how many they wish to produce for themselves, or how many they want to give to Syria, so these comments are not really worth discussing at the moment.

IMO this is nothing more than propaganda and before I buy that tiny fighter will be delivered in masses, I would love to see at least a few in Iranian Air Force service.

No, I do not think this is propaganda, no reason to think otherwise. but I do agree with you that it is best we see a few in Iranian air force before they send some to Syria.

P.s I do appreciate your input in this section. It's always good to see mature/experienced people commenting in Iran section, so please don't take my replies as anything hostile.

:hitwall::hitwall::hitwall::hitwall::hitwall:

Iran is supposedly going to supply weapons that itself hasn't inducted.
To Syria, which is really in Russia's dept for saving her.
Yes, Russia, the primary weapons supplier.
:suicide:
But maybe Russia isnt supplying Syria critical equipment like AD or fighter jets! Russia didnt supply its fav client Syria with the S-300s, because of Israeli or/and US pressure. It has repaired some military aircraft, but if Iran felt SAAf was equipped enough why would Iran want to supply more aircraft? SAA military got seriously depleted by the war, dont underestimate that.

LOL that is funny. I needed a good laugh.

India can’t barely stand up to US pressures when it comes to their energy needs From Iran.

Now I am supposed to believe they will build a stealth fighter jet and violate arms embargo and possibility jeopardize their military sharing technology with the US for Iran?

Good one my friend
Thats a fair point/question.

Yeah, but it feels good to down hacks that think they're invincible, because they've been killing unarmed arabs and protesters. You guys need to come at us in the open so we can break your ego once and for all. You guys are nothing to crow about militarily speaking without U.S. help....just have your PM keep flying all over the world kissing other leaders a*ss on tv. It's so disgusting but yet so fitting for your mickey mouse nation.

and the second lesson is what?

dont trust russians..
Agreed, the russians proved not to be particularly good allies for the arabs even back in soviet times, these days however russia is far to cozy with israel to ever be trusted by syria or iran, not to mention russias past recent history of repeatedly stabbing iran in the back in the interests of short term political gain with the west.
On the other hand the arabs used to have, and very likely stil do have,a very, very poor record of operational security and intelligence failures that were either due to outright incompetence or corruption that sometimes gave the israelis intelligence bonanzas. So if iran is going to supply something like the b373 or sayyad it would have to be very, very sure that the syrians tasked with operating it are only the most trusted and exceptionally loyal individuals,in addition it would also pay to modify the system in certain ways,ie both hardware and software,so that even if in the worst case scenario it is compromised it would not be handing over all the data on the iranian version to the usraelis/nato/gcc.
Ultimately the syrians will require having their old outdated cold war era air defence network completely rebuilt and modernised,as even before the usraeli/nato/gcc terrorist campaign the syrian ad network was very long in the tooth, throw in the destruction or capture of numerous ad sites by the terrorists and the ad network was degraded even further and even tho the syrians had managed to acquire some newer systems ie pansir, buk etc.. these were hampered by the overall damage done to the main ad network and were often reduced to simply working on their own autonomously which considerably limited their potential effectiveness.

Hooray! You're managing to bomb a country that is busy at war. What a strong nation you are
We saw how strong you are in 06 when you were humiliated by Hezbollah.
The reason your airstrikes have gone mostly unanswered in Syria is because they don't want to start a conflict when they're focusing on finishing the war. That is clear to everyone. But whether you people like it or not, a new front has been started against you in Syria, i.e a new Hezbollah. You can't do jack about it. Some bombs here and there won't change anything. That's why netanyahoo is cying like a little bitc.h to everyone.

Syrians and their Iranian allies are so uncivilized! Poor Israeli jet was on a "routine" unauthorized flight over Lebanon, "routinely" violating their airspace! Why would someone fire missile on such innocent bypasser? What part of word "routine" they didn't understand?

Jokes aside, if according to Israel a $100m jet can become obsolete by a bird, then I would put all my money on Iran's Kosar.
