Iran to supply Russia with “hundreds” of Drones

ok

yeah but don’t you think it’s a waste of their firepower, again I don’t support the war in general, but they have Ukraine on the offensive in in the east and they’re just using much of their cruise missiles and drones for revenge attacks, they could have used it to blunt Ukraines offensive, their cruise missiles and Iranian drones aren’t unlimited everything costs money and takes time replenish
If you target energy network (which they did mostly). Youre expending perhaps say, 6 Kalibr cruise missiles worth 500,000k each, and say 4 Shahed-136 suicide drones worth 20k each to attack a single infrastructure that is very important for military-economy complex like electric grid, you certainly are having a effect on all operation both civilian and military. Its effects won't be immediate, but will increase over time.

In terms of cost-effectiveness it is worth it.

I still say a moving force of thousands of soldiers is easier to hit but I understand where you are coming from

that is not the role cruise missiles are made to perform , that is artillery jobs to sort out that is army aviation duty to deal that is CAS role that air force must perform ,

.
depend on target , from strategic point of view if you can knock down electricity network , communication network , rail roads and such , those cruise missiles are spent well.
using them on troop concentration area is a waste , those area must be shelled , and pummeled by drones and air force
Even the U.S. doesn't use Tomahawks on troops. Unless its like barracks or something but not on the frontlines in trenches or somewhat. Thats what HIMARS are for.

. . .
Iran should transfer the drones if asked for. It is a win for them at multiple levels:
1. A major power is openly breaking the weapons ban on it. It sets a precedent for others to follow.
2. They get paid either in money, materials, technology or goodwill ( eg UN) in any combination.
3. The prestige of the nation rises, the prestige of it's armed forces even more do( notice how Turks mojo increased after TB-2)
4. If weapons sanctions is breached, economic sanctions breaches will follow
5. Iran is already badly sanctioned. There is not much the West can do besides gnashing their teeth. In fact Iran can leverage this transaction for sanctions lifting.. or else.
Russia should swallow it's ego and go for armed UAVs in a big way... it's very frustrating to see countless Orlan footages of NATO weapons doing it's thing, and Russian artillery barrages mostly missing them. A few dozen armed UAV s can literally wipe these weapon systems on sight....
Hmmm.. Looks like I was vindicated.
Iranian weapon and ingenuity has been a matter of discussion everywhere once the Shaheds showed up. I may even venture to say, it may have been instrumental in the Israelis swallowing their usual arrogance and agreeing to the maximalist demand of Lebanon in the sea dispute.. as they can easily surmise how Hezbollah Shaheds can lay their country to waste.
Now awaiting the Arash-2 to show up 😉

Looks like we might have to update the name of this thread to missiles & drones

Iran planning to send missiles, drones to Russia for Ukraine war, officials say

They believe Fateh-110 and Zolfaghar missiles will be supplied if it has not already. Also larger batches of Shahed-136s and Mohajer-6's would be sent according to their intel. “dozens” of additional Mohajer-6s and a larger number of Shahed-136s. We have not see much of UCAVs from Russia yet, but it could be because of the training that would be required to use them properly.

Let's not jump to conclusion for their every claim, Russia has been looking for Iranian drones at least since 2016.

This will likely give the US the go ahead to send ATACMS ballistic missiles to Ukraine.

. . .
imagine what the iraqi army of the persian gulf wars could have done to the US if they had Iranian doctrine instead of trying to buy a reeeeealllly poor mans version of the US military.

Iraq would have massed atgms by the 10s of thousands. Built infinite tunnel networks hezbollah style to pop out , waste some murican cannon fodder and go back inside and repeat.

If they had 10s to hundreds of thousands of PGMs specifically designed to survive and do damage in an assymetric environment.

The war would have looked something like this:

Iraq would let americans take all open terrain with little ground reaistance. Let them come to the cities for some urban battle with fanatical and entrenched forces armed to the teeth with atgms.

Hunting down nato aircraft like flies with a highly advanced, mobile and survivable air defense network

Pound the living shit out of murican staging grounds with thousands of precision missiles and drones. Have special forces attack vulnerable american supply lines

All the while firing thousands of anti ship missiles to slaughter the us navy who will have to deal with a persoan gulf mined like sand. While getting rained on with various missiles and drones.

Just imagine the absolute slauggter american forces would have suffered?

People taking Iranian doctrine or weapons lightly are going to need to do some serious underwear shopping soon.

What an idiot saddam was. Bringing out his obsolete army into the open to get slaughtered by a button puajong army. Even the US commanders were shocked that the iraqis withdrew from kuwait without engaging in any urban warfare that would have minimised all the american advantages
