Iran to lease part of Chabahar port to India for 18 months

.
Modi is a nationalist to the core....If it requires to mend fences with Pakistan that benifit India, he will do it, same way, if it requires to make friends any nations that includes Islamic nations, he will make the make the foreign policy to suit my nation...

Now, whatever is toxic for others, may be good for others..It is also true that Congress party failed to leave up to the expectation of the people to govern...So BJP got he opportunity to expose Congress and came to power...These are all part of internal politics of India but BJP will make sure, our internal politics will not impact the foreign policy of India.

BJP won election 4years ago, yet you guys still bringing BJP vs Congress...come on they are dead duck, how long you are gonna continue this Congress song.. it's time to show what change does BJP bring... with results, not just steps..

.
lolz where are those who are expecting to much fom iran ? :D
ghadar ibn e ghadar .
Why would anyone expect from a country apart from their own? No one owes Pakistan any loyalty and if their actions don't harm Pakistan in any way then I don't understand why we get so paranoid about everything?

Maybe Modi believe Shia muslim is different from Sunni Muslim?
A lot of Indians think that. They think Shias are more liberal and less radical, therefore "less Muslims" aka less headache

. .
That's fine. Now NATO should go through chahbahar port as they send shipment to afghanistan after taking 11 days than usual but it reach there. So may be Nato can go through chahbahar.

.
Pakistan seems to have failed on every front with the wider middle eastern nations. Pak has this delusional sense that we are tied to these nations but almost all of these nations have favoured india above Pakistan in almost all fronts. Has any Arab/middle eastern nation raised the issue of Kashmir? Even Mahmood Abbas of Palestine seems to favour Mr Modi over Pak yet Modi is making huge deals with Israel at the same time. Pakistan has failed in foriegn diplomacy on all fronts. When the going gets tough then the Arab states look to hire Pakistan.

Agree

This is nothing

Chabahar is a iranian port its owned and run by iran, they have a couple of bearths that india will try to develop within 18 months because development has been so slow, iran then gets indians pumping more money in before they get total control again

It makes sense from an iranian point of view

The only ones jumping about are indians and Pakistanis who think india "runs chabahar":disagree:

now put it vice versa . no one should expect any loyalty form Pakistan too . if we deploy our army any where thats our decision . u are no one to expect any thing from us :) .

This clearly goes for everyone and anyone. Pak-Saudi ties are older than current Iran-Indian ties. On political, historic and economic level there's no reason why Iran and Pakistan would be hostile towards one another, and Iran isn't Afghanistan or Iraq whose soil can be used and abused by anyone against Pakistan.

Pakistan ties with Saudi earns us some money, but as long as the involvement doesn't harm Saudi enemies Iran then it's okay. Iran ties with India might benefit them financially too, as long as it doesn't threaten Pakistan in any way it's okay.

.
So

So dam true.........

.
if somehow U.S-Iran manages to sort out their differences then pakistan will loose big.

.
Embrace more terrorist attacks from Iranian border now, we need to be even more vigilant.

India and Iran signed a clutch of agreements on Saturday with Tehran agreeing to lease to New Delhi operational control of a part of the Chabahar port for 18 months.

The port is a vital part of New Delhi’s plans to connect with Afghanistan and Central Asian countries as it creates a strategic trade route, bypassing Pakistan.

After the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, the two sides signed nine pacts, including a double taxation avoidance treaty, and decided to fast-track agreements for preferential trade arrangements to boost economic ties amid US pressure to review the 2015 nuclear deal and re-impose sanctions on Tehran.

Tehran leasing to New Delhi operational control of part of the Chabahar was an important outcome of the visit. The $85 million project, just 90 km from the Chinese-built Gwadar port in Pakistan, ensures a transit route for India to Afghanistan and resource-rich central Asian countries bypassing Pakistan.

The two countries also called for “an immediate end to all support and sanctuaries enjoyed by terrorist groups and individuals,” said a joint statement.

“We want to increase ties in finance, energy, connectivity and trade. We want to strengthen our age-old cultural ties. Landlocked Afghanistan has got a golden gateway in Chabahar. I congratulate you for the contribution,” Modi said as New Delhi hosted an Iranian President after ten years.

Sharing the sentiment, Rouhani said: “Iran and India are prepared for joint ventures in gas and petroleum sectors.”

“We also had a great deal of discussion today on facilitating economic relations, preferential trade tariffs, better banking relations, visa relations and facilitating travel between the two countries for business purposes,” the Iranian President said.

“The two leaders agreed on the deepening trade and investment cooperation . In this context, they recognised the need to put in place an effective banking channel for business transactions”, the joint statement said.
