Iran has successfully test-fired the fourth generation of the indigenously-made Fateh 110 precision missile, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi says.

“The 4th generation of the Fateh 110 precision missile with a range of more than 300 kilometers (190 miles) was successfully test-fired by the Defense Ministry’s Aerospace Industries Organization (AIO),” Vahidi told reporters on Saturday.

He added that the latest surface-to-surface missile with improved precision in targeting and advanced navigation and control systems has been completely engineered by Iranian experts as part of the Islamic Republic's plan to bolster its military might.

Iran's Armed Forces can use the Fateh 110 missile to hit and destroy ground and sea targets, missile sites, arms cache, radars and other targets, the minister explained.

He emphasized that Iran is among the few countries in the world capable of producing this type of missile.

Vahidi said that Iran's capabilities are in line with the Islamic Republic’s doctrine of defense and deterrence.

“Iran's capabilities are defensive and will only be used against aggressive countries and those who threaten our country’s interests and territorial integrity,” the minister pointed out.

Over the recent years, Iran has made important breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems.

The Islamic Republic has repeatedly made it clear that its military might is merely based on the nation's defense doctrine of deterrence and poses no threat to other countries.

Congrats Iranian brothers.

Iran needs an Israel centeric missile system more than Arab centeric right now.

Hay buddy we congratulate our brothers for their achievement. We might have something similar or not but its irrelevant. Iran is working to defend itself and this is the matter of satisfaction and pride for everybody. So say cheers to their achievement and share your smile with them.

There was no sarcasm in my post, mate. I really wanted to know why just a few countries were mentioned in the article and why not Pakistan, what's the Missile capable of which Pakistan doesn't have yet. It was purely a technical question.

What if Arabs ally with Israel and U.S against Iran and give their bases to them?shouldn't we deal with them?

That depends on what "dealing with them" means in Iranian dictionary , my point being that Iran desperately needs credible conventional deterrent against Israel. Every action has a reaction Arabs and Iranians must know that , last thing i want to see is them fighting each other.

First Iran needs to decide, is it going to be part of Central Asia or the Middle east. If it is the former, Israel or Arabs become less important.

How fast can Iran incorporate this technology into all of her missiles? Can she do it before September, this year?

Iran tests new version of its Fateh-110 short-range ballistic missile which can destroy targets at sea

The Iranian authorities announced they had successfully fired as part of a test, a modernized version of the locally made Fateh-110 short-range ballistic missile (SRBM). According to the Defence Minister, the missile is now capable to reach targets at sea thanks to a new upgrade.

The Defence Minister, General Ahmad Vahidi, said today on Iranian state television that the missile, Fateh-110, had a range of 300 km. He said he could locate targets at sea, making it the most accurate weapon of its kind in Iran's arsenal.

"By this new generation of the Fateh missile, the Iranian armed forces can destroy both sea and ground targets" he said, reiterating that the Defense Ministry plans to equip all its home-made missiles with this new capability.

Iran has sought in recent years to upgrade its missiles, which may already be able to reacg targets located in Israel. Authorities say they focus on missiles that can strike naval target. The previous version of this ground-ground missile, commissioned in 2002, had a range of 200 km.

Iranian armed forces may be trying to gain the same capability as the Chinese with their DF-21D ballistic anti-ship missile.

China has reportedly developed and tested the world's first anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM) called DF-21D, with a maximum range of around 2,700 kilometres in 2005, according to the US Department of Defense. It is estimated to have reached initial operating capability in 2007 or 2008.
