No we can't equate them with Rasool Allah,they are no where near him.
To me they were one's who succeded Prophet in political and religion propgation matters.
All of them tried their level best to reach on mark set by Allah Almighty for momineen.

All four rulers who succeded one after another came without any political connections but later in time after fall of 3rd Caliph things changed and after fall of fouth everything changed.
