TEHRAN, March 10 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Deputy Defense Minister Majid Bokaei said Saturday that Iran plans to sell more arms to " friendly" and neighboring countries in the new Iranian calendar year starting on March 20, the local Mehr news agency reported.

Bokaei did not mention the name of the friendly states that Iran plans to sell arms to, but in February, he said to Lebanese Defense Minister Fayez Ghusn that Iran is seeking to strengthen defense ties with friendly countries.

On Feb. 26, Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi and his Lebanese counterpart held talks on defense cooperation in Tehran.

During the meeting, Vahidi said that one of Iran's strategic policies was to strengthen the Lebanese army. Lebanon should have a strong army to defend its interests in the region and Lebanon should be protected against the threats, Vahidi said.

Ghusn's visit to Iran provided a good opportunity for the expansion of cooperation between the two countries in the area of defense, Vahidi said.

In October 2011, Iran's ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi said Tehran was ready to equip the Lebanese army and expand bilateral defense cooperation without setting any preconditions.

Speaking at a meeting with Ghusn in Lebanon's capital Beirut, Roknabadi said that developing stronger defense cooperation between the two sides was necessary given the daily violations of Lebanese airspace by the Israeli fighter jets.

Iranian defense minister has reiterated that the Islamic republic is fully prepared to provide the Lebanese army with cutting-edge military equipment if it receives any request from Lebanon for equipping its army.

Israel launches fresh air strikes on Gaza An Israeli air strike on Rafah in the southern

Israeli air strikes have pounded Gaza for a second day, in the worst violence in the region for almost a year.

Palestinian sources said at least 15 militants had been killed in the two days of fighting.

Israeli says almost 100 rockets fired from Gaza have struck Israel since the exchange of fire began.

The US condemned the rocket attacks, calling them "cowardly", while the Arab League called the Israeli air strikes "a massacre".

The UN and the European Union have expressed concern and appealed for calm.

The latest flare-up began on Friday when an Israeli air strike on a car in Gaza City killed militant commander Zohair al-Qaisi, secretary general of the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC), and two of his associates.

Gaza militants quickly unleashed a barrage of rockets toward southern Israeli communities.

Palestinian doctors said Israeli air strikes on Saturday killed one person near the southern town of Rafah on the border with Egypt and two more in Khan Younis.

They said that at least 26 Palestinians had been wounded over the two days, five seriously.

Israeli officials said rocket attacks against Israel had injured four people. They said Israel's Iron Dome missile-interception system had taken out 28 rockets heading towards populated areas.

Schools in several southern Israeli communities will be closed on Sunday, affecting more than 200,000 students, Israeli media reported.

The Israeli army said it struck several targets inside Gaza including "a terrorist squad" planning to fire rockets.

It said the air strikes were "in direct response to the rocket fire at Israeli communities in southern Israel".

Defence Minister Ehud Barak said "the Israeli army will hit anyone planning to attack Israeli citizens".

'Dangerous escalation'

The increase is violence alarmed world powers trying to bring peace talks between Palestinians and Israelis back on track.

US State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said Washington condemned "in the strongest terms" the rocket fire from Gaza, saying the attacks had "dramatically and dangerously escalated".

Israel says its Iron Dome missile launchers, like this one in Ashdod, stopped several rockets
"We call on those responsible to take immediate action to stop these cowardly acts," she said.

The Arab League issued a statement accusing Israel of carrying out a "massacre".

It called for a tough stance from the international community against the Jewish state.

EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said the bloc was "following with concern the recent escalation of violence in Gaza and in the south of Israel".

"It is essential to avoid further escalation and I urge all sides to re-establish calm," she said.

UN spokesman Richard Miron called the situation in Gaza "very fragile and unsustainable".

"We deplore the fact that civilians are once again paying the price," he said.

It's hard to believe that Iran has surplus weapons for sale amid the bellicose atmosphere from the West. She could use every single piece of weaponry to arm her civilians in case of war.

Unless she is using this tactic to tell her enemies that she has more than enough to fight any war.

Nice for Iran. I think that Iran may have many friends in africa.
Maybe some in Latin America and perhaps some in indo china.

And those friend maybe will buy one or two fire crackers. But a massive
Export of arms in this days seems a bit optimistic.

But still good luck to the brave Persians.

Our main export candidates are these ones:
Modlex: Main page

These are intended for normal countries. A good example is Sudan. Some other African countries are also included. In Europe, only Albania has a history of buying arms from Iran (mostly ammunition). In Asia, Tajikistan, Myanmar and more recently Lebanon (Not Hezbollah). Pakistan is not our enemy but they have their own defense industry that produces many things. For the weapons they can't produce, China always supports them.

There are only two countries that we share more sensitive weapons with them. They are Syria (Mohajer 4-A110, Fateh-110G3, Noor Phase 3, that early warning radar that was reported to be supplied by Iran and more recently, Qiam 1) and North Korea (New Shahab-3/Nodong warheads and guidance systems, Fateh-110G3 and according to South Koreans, Karrar UCAV)
