TEHRAN: Iranian top military commander said Tuesday that Iran and Pakistan are seeking to jointly manufacture defence equipment, Press TV reported.

Major General Mohammad Baqeri, chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, made the remarks following a meeting with Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Iran and Pakistan are working to jointly make defence products and present them as a joint achievement of the Muslim nations, Baqeri was quoted as saying.

In the meeting, Hussain and Baqeri underlined the importance of the Tehran-Islamabad ties in different areas, particularly in the defence sector.

On Tuesday, Baqeri also held a meeting with Chief of Pakistani Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi.

During the talks, the two sides discussed topics including military education, pilot training, military drills and contacts between the two countries' defence industries, he added.

On Monday, the Iranian top commander blasted the United States for seeking insecurity in the Middle East and is against the restoration of peace to this region.

"America tops the list of countries that seek to create insecurity in the region and is against the restoration of security to the region," Baqeri said.

Baqeri arrived in Islamabad Monday for an official visit at the invitation of his Pakistani counterpart, General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

1) MFN status is long due. Iran should give MFN status to Pakistan and allow easy trade route to CAS.
2) If Iran is keep in Joint Venture with Pakistan, they should consider replacing their aging planes (F-4, F-5, F-7, Mirage F1, SU-24) with JF-17 block 3 and K8 Trainer.
3) Pakistan has lots of experience in manufacturing and upgrading tanks. Iran is in need of 800 to 1000 new tanks. Pakistan can include Iran in Haider tank project if they agree to buy 300 to 500 Al-Khaild tanks. Pakistan can also help Iran in upgrading their old tanks and APC.
4) As for as joint projects, small arms, Short range Sams and UAV joint projects should be discussed.

How would the Arab allies of Pakistan feel about us arming Iran with weapons a generation newer than what they have?

Arabs have never openly supported any of our defense programs nor they have shown any interest in purchasing anything major so we can show them middle finger.

Karrar is no match for Al-Khalid 2.
Iranian have also developed a fake 5th generations stealth fighter.

They might not have supported out defense programs but we have other ties with them far more strategic and important then selling some weapons to Iran.

Most Pakistanis do not speak/understand Farsi. Many Iranians I met (in GCC) are fluent in Urdu though.

Second, religion should not form the basis for any partnership, in my ill-informed view. Our history is soaked red with Sunni-Shia rivalry. Geographic, cultural and technological sectors can form a much more reliable and long-lasting partnership between Pakistan and Iran.
In Pakistan we do not have Shia Sunni conflict it is rather Shia Wahabi conflict To better understand We (majority 70% sunni) Pakistan make the 3rd pole in Islam WE hve the differences with Shia and Wahabi thoughts but we are not in war with both. Both poles of Islam is acceptable for us.

Pakistan is a country with large sunni and shia population it should play a role in bring Arabs and Iranians closer to each other
Both are too arrogant so mediation is not possible both Saudis or Iranian take all other Muslim world as gentiles like Jews think of all others nations Rest is lip service this is based on personal experiences of the peoples who have visited Iran or Saudia.

We have to make sure we address Arab countries concerns. That’s why we have foreign policy and foreign ministry.
We need to let Arab friends know that we will be working with Iran to counter ISIS and may sell weapons to Iran so Iran can defend himself from ISIS.
