PARIS (Reuters) - France’s foreign ministry said on Monday it was an important condition for the stability of the region that Iran not interfere in Lebanon’s domestic affairs.

“We wish that all those who exert an influence in Lebanon allow all the political actors in this country to exercise fully their responsibilities,” foreign ministry spokeswoman Agnes Romatet-Espagne told reporters in a daily briefing.

“Mr Saad al-Hariri called on Iran yesterday to not interfere in the affairs of Lebanon and its neighbors. We believe that this is an important condition for the stability of the region.”

There isn't a single Iranian in Lebanon. But Lebanon if I'm not mistaken is 40% Shia plurality which is why under Lebanese constitution the speaker of parliament must be a Shia.

Telling us not to interfere in Lebanese affairs while the Lebanese PM resigns in Saudi  come on Macron I expected better.

He wants disarming of Hezbollah. Iran is just an excuse.

They know better than anyone else that Iran has never interfered in Lebanese internal affairs. During electing of president, it was Hariri's party, Saudi proxy, that stopped and put barriers on Aoun's way and as always Hezbollah was the excuse. BTW this Saudi upstart boy, just destroyed all the power that Hariri had unfairly grabbed from other parties. Now Lebanon wants Hariri back LOL. Poor Hariri
