The deal have two side ... for sure Su30 are more suited for Iran but ... As an Iranian , I like to buy product license of PAK-FA or at least Su-47 , but You can't get all you want ...
Iran will be under a weapons embargo for another 5 years! And Trump will no doubt veto any Sale of Fighter Jets to Iran!
Russia at the end of the day will do what's in the interest of Russia! And with Trump coming into office the Russians will 1st and foremost look towards doing business in the U.S. long before they risk angering their new friend in the white house over $10 Billion USD from Iran.
Yes they may throw Iran a bone & give us a few new Artillery Systems, a few Tanks & some Helo's but nothing that would truly anger Washington.
Iran needs to go to China & Russia for license production & full tech transfer of one of their more advanced Turbofan Engines to be used in the development of a large 2 engine Iranian Fighter Jet. The Russian's may not agree but the Chinese for the right price regardless of the few flaws of their engines may be our best option under Trump.
Unfortunately, Iran is going down the wrong path! Iran needs to start an advanced fighter program and to do that we need to:
1.Completely trash this deluded idea of building a single engine fighter. If the IRIAF thinks the J-10 is not a viable fighter then we need to STOP trying to build single engine fighter.
2.Regardless of the cost Iran needs to put all it's capability towards the development of a twin engine 5th generation Airframe built around Russian or Chinese engines if possible if not, Iranian built J-79's, equipped with an internal weapons bay, little to no vertical surfaces, capable of Air refueling, a minimum titanium requirement of 40,000lb per airframe...
3. Use as many parts that are already available in Iran! Iranian built upgraded version of the AWG-9 (If Iran simply increases the AWG-9 processing power, upgrades the antenna & upgrades the software, that radar will be a beast!!) Use F-14 Landing Gears, Chaff & flair dispenser....
4.Airframe should be equipped with a passive IRST if we can't yet build a viable passive IRST then we can take the ABSAR imaging radar & we use that for now until we perfect a viable IRST in it's place!
5.A built in powerful laser range finder that could potentially be used to blind out enemy IRST & IR Missiles on top of targeting and altitude control.
And every single thing I have mentioned is without exception within Iran's capability to do! And if funded properly Iran can hands down start production at a rate of 20 per year within the next 5 years.
And to reduce time I would take the specs of the F-22 airframe & increase it by 5-6% with minor changes to allow for the incorporation of parts already in use in Iran!
