The border with Iran is long and rugged, with plenty of vast open stretches, and where it is monitored on the Pakistani side it is paramilitary troops that handle the patrolling, not the regular army.

Given this situation, the ability of Iranian forces to sneak across an empty stretch to raid a village and rob some poor villagers of their meagre possessions hardly counts as some kind of significant military capability.

One good decision Nawaz Sharif govt made, was the withdrawal from its agreement regarding the export of Iranian natural gas to Pakistan.

Next step is to stepup Pakistan-SaudiArabia and 10s of other Middle Eastern Arab states under complete, robust and more deeper strategic relationship against Iran.

Iran should be held responsible for failing to control terrorism inside Iran and blaming neighbours for its weaknesses.

Alright, I think everybody needs to calm down a little. Iran is sure as hell not our enemy and neither one of us would want to see hostility rising between us. As tragic and sad this recent incident is, it should not be used to mark Iran as hostile state. I understand the Iranian frustration at dealing with the insurgency within its borders but it must not let it translate into aggression. Seek peaceful means. Try to understand that Pak-Iran border is a long, rugged and difficult terrain that simply can't be constantly monitored, so infiltration are natural. Also, as of now, the military/para-military forces of Pakistan have been under alot of strain facing multiple challenges at eastren, westren and internal fronts. They're too thinned out to effectively observe every inch of every border. Having said all of this, i do believe Islamabad too has a responsibility to fulfill. We should be more proactive and heavy-handed when dealing with these miscreants and ensure that no terrorist activity affecting Iran is going on inside our borders.

That might be but if Iranian govt is claiming so incessantly that attack on its forces are coming from Pakistan side of border..then there must be some truth in it.

After all Pakistan is no stranger to her neighbors blaming her for terrorist attacks in their country..How can they all be wrong?
