Dear explorer9, in my opinion, religious is part of a nationality. Now, Persian are Muslim, once Persian were Zoroastrian, and definitely something else before that. One can not separate religious from nationality. I am not with the idea that most of Iranian carry anti-religious beliefs, There are some anti-religious supporters but the fact is most of them show respect to Islam.

Arab – Persian rivalry was the case of conflict among extreme nationalists of both sides which dose not sound logical to me like as any other racism supporter idea. I doubt if the peaceful solutions could be achieved through such a destructive rivalry among nations. This kind of attitude just provide a temporary shield of Persian for Israel against objections of oppressed Arab nations. Israel should accept to act through internationally accepted rules, practicing of living in peace with others and returning the occupied lands instead of dreaming a new tragedy of rivalries in middle east.

Well , we are proud of all of our history both before and after Islam , both parts of our history are defining what we are now if we denounce any of it , it would be like denouncing ourselve ,it would be as saying we are not us butsomething else .
One of the darkest part of our hidtory is qajar dynasty but we are still proud of it because if you look at it you will find many cases like mirza reza shirazi decree for banning the use of tobacoo that showed westerner that they cant colonize us .
