Tabriz Cultural Center

With a sensitive regard for the social and historical background of Azarbayejan province in which it is located, the Tabriz Cultural Center is designed around a large meydan (traditional Iranian square or plaza) which will be filled with daily pedestrian movement, bringing constant liveliness to the complex. Musical and theatrical programs will take place in this meydan, protected from the weather by a translucent dome of classic geometrical design. The surrounding spaces will house a variety of activities – performance halls for 200 to 1,200 people, a library, an exhibit hall, restaurant, teahouse, studios, workshops and an audio-visual hall presenting the history and life of Azerbayejan

Shah definitely had a good taste. He was living like a Sheikh. I like this interior view, it seems like there is a wide glass installed in the nose of aircraft for the imperial living room. It is wonderful to sit there and see the world through it. I guess the glass has to be bullet proof to sustain high winds in the cone of nose, and has to be a smoked glass so that too much light does not get in.

. . . . . .
Well, Shah was a strange man. He wanted to prove that Iranians are western but he never took science and technology seriously. All he was doing for most part was for show off. New York a western city had its first metro line functional in 1901, but by 1979, Iran still did not have a metro system for Tehran. Even Cairo was ahead of Iran in these regards. Similar is the case with other areas. Pakistan was miles ahead of Iran in nuclear technology having had its first nuclear power plant built in late 1960's. And India had already launched a satellite into space by 1979 and Iran at the time had not even a space agency. Anyways since that time Iran has come a long way and today Iran is among the world's top movers in almost all areas education, health, income and human development index as per United Nations.

These are some of the videos from Shah's time, and the westernization can be seen in it but it is only the sexual freedom part of west without science and technology:

Iran was a somewhat backward country in the 1940sand Shah used country's oil wealth to convert Iran into a middle income country with somewhat good infrastructure and most of all he provided free education to his subjects. He was just laying the groundwork.

If you want to compare the progress made by Islamic regime, you should also compare the time span in which the progress is made.

Shah (~35 years)= Converted Iran from a backward country to a middle income country with good infrastructure and having good relations with other countries.

Islamic Regime(~32 years)= Iran still a middle income country, isolated & under sanctions
