Iran Dominates in Iraq After U.S. ‘Handed the Country Over’

Iraq qill become Shia majority state with all the Sunnis flocking to western countries as refugees.

There are a lot of deniers here under the disguise of brotherly love. Iraq was a subject of Sassanians . You are either under denial or misguided . The government of Iran today wants stable neighbors . The Iranian establishment are Islamic but they are Iranian . They despise the Persian Gulf Arabs. The events today in Iraq are a decisive defeat of the Sunni Arabs. Just like the old battles , the forces that fought under Iranian flags consisted of many of what is today Arab speakers who are actually not Arabs.

It will be 100 years before the current establishment will leave Iraq and the Levant.

In my opinion, the fire is still lit under the ashes of the old the events that has shaped much of what is Iranian/Salafi relationship .

why do you think the US cares , they wanted to kill some arabs as a repatriation for 9/11. they couldn't kill enough in afghanistan , and they were not arabs .. they don't care if iran takes control when they leave or if it's qatar !

Iran didn't help Iraq after 2003, it sowallowed it. KSA did make a mistake by alienating itself from Iraq as it was under the US military rule. But that doesn't justify the abolition of Iraq's sovereignty by the Iranians.
You have made many mistakes and you can not blames other for them ,
You supported Saddam whom killed many people in Iraq (Shia and Kurds) bankrolled him provided him by manpower your airspace and everything else .. and he bit your hand by invasion of Kuwait in 90s .. during Saddam era many Iraqis whom were considered as opposition in Iraq and now are Iraqi officials had no place to take refugee except Iran and we helped them in hours of need welcomed them warmly ... other mistake made by you was through assistance of CIA and ISI you created/bankrolled Mujahedeen in Afghanistan which later on turned to a tumor in the region and interesting point is Iran fought both Saddam and extremists .. back in 2001/2003 these 2 excuses (Saddam and extremists) were exploited by the USA which led to invasion of two countries in the region......
All these years Iran stood by Iraqi people and you + your friends gave American military bases .. Where were you when ISIS was 65 kms away from Baghdad and meanwhile was heading towards to Kurdiastan region of Iraq? while you were calling ISIS Sunni resistance group and you other friends were buying Iraqi oil 1/3 price and American declined any help despite several direct request from Baghdad and Arbil the only country that helped was Iran ....
So instead of blaming others for their right decisions at least try not to make wrong decisions.

Well, you do have some objective points here. Not that I agree with all what you said though. Iraq won't remain the Iranian colony that it is today. No one was ever successful in containing Iraqis, never have, never will. Mutiny, challenge, suspicion, revenge, and revolution are all basic components of the Iraqi DNA.

That time is not far, when Iraqis will realize their mistake and will push you out.
Iran saved Iraq from Libya scenario or worser total collapse as a state (Somalia scenario).
Iraq is a neighbour, we'll keep our ties intact (business, military, Politics).
If these thing are seen as colonial policy towards Iraq then what Saudi and americans are doing like sanctioning Qatar, bombing countries, spreading McDonalds over the world, are considered genocide.

Dominates in what field.

To break it down on the political, economical and military level.

Militarily the ISF which is compromised out of the MoI's police forces, MoD's military, ISOF and the PMU. ISF is dominated by forces that are working closely with the thousands of US troops on Iraqi bases. Arms imports are mostly from Russia, US and China.

Economically it may be right for certain parts of Iraq, the south is definitely importing a lot from Iran. Though this is simply due to the available options with regards to the geography. The only other industrial nation that produces a lot of goods is Turkey and Iraq imports a lot from them as well. The right answer to this is local production.

Politically Iran is not dominating either. Some describe the current situation as Abadi (pro US camp) and Maliki (pro Iran camp) with the latter having a lot of influence in the PMU and the first having influence in the other military forces. No side is fully dominating, there is a certain balance of power.

In 2014, Iran made an offer to Baghdad government. Iran offered full use of its military equipment and troops, that means Iran offered to dispatch a massive number of its military to fight IS in Iraq. Iraqi gov rejected this request, instead invited the US-led coalition to Iraqi bases and the airspace.

Explain the logic of that if Iran was in control?

It's this decentralized power system on top of which there is a balance of power between US/Iran leaning actors which lays the fertile ground for this shitty corrupt weak state system. If Iran or any other side was fully in control of Iraq the country would be stable, the 2014 collapsed would never have happened. We'd have seen a Saddam style strong state, the force in control is irrelevant to that.

Instead we have internal enemies (Kurds) leeching from the system sabotaging the state on every field they can, fortunately they're being kicked out of positions but it's not enough. Nationalists have to return to power, all these religious figures need to be kicked out.
