Iran built A fleet of 15000 suicide ships

Isn't "suicide boat" a more appropriate name?

Why would anyone use a naval warship for mass suicide attacks?

I dunno, ask the Japanese in their moment of brilliance.

In April 1945, the Japanese battleship Yamato, the largest battleship in the world, along with nine other Japanese warships, embarked from Japan on a deliberate suicide attack upon Allied forces engaged in the Battle of Okinawa. The Japanese force was attacked, stopped, and almost completely destroyed by United States (U.S.) carrier-borne aircraft before reaching Okinawa. Yamato and five other Japanese warships were sunk.

suicide boats wouldnt be much successfull in conventional warfare. i am not really convinced abt their usability in un-conventional warfare.

these boats may notch up one or two brilliant kills but once the element of surprise is lost they will be easy kills for any decent navy.

the success of operation purely depend upon the ability of boat commander to get the boat in close proximity of bigger vessel un detected. if it gets detected than it is pure butchery. it wont stand a chance against high speed 20 or 30 mm cannons carried by these boats. these cannons fire 9000 rounds per minute. the suicide boats wont stand a chance then.

but i personally beleive given the right numbers, these suicide boats can take out any ship in the world.

one point here. since these boats are small their range is very limited. they can be used for petrolling close to ports only. they cant move far away from ports.
a single single battle group consisting of aircraft carrier and few destroyers sitting 500 miles away can create havoc at the operating port seriously limiting ability of enemy ships/ suicide boats to navigate/manoeuvre.

the number of boat maybe is not correct as the source is not from Iran.
but boats will be unmanned, light, fast.

In the Iraq-Iran war, Iraq had the weapons and Iran had the fanatical manpower. I am not surprised by the number 15,000. The thing to do when you have manpower and a tech disadvantage is to employ massive amounts of disposable weapons.

yeah better you know how to close your mouth before speaking about something you don't know.

first point > to consider as a valuable source "The Sun" lol

second point > Iran was buying weapons during war . The army was well organized and with inside your heart that you need to defend your country gives you an advantage
If it what you call "fanatism" lol

Sun is tabloid junk they will post any old crap its only good for football gossip stories.

Iran is getting innovative in this stuff.

Although such suicide unmmaned aricraft were employed by the Nazis in WW2,not with much success though.

Considering modern tech,i wondering if any changes will be there.

Seems a good idea as it looks cheap.

This system has been imporved further and will take care of most of the threat being discussed, if not all of it:

MK 15 Phalanx Close-In Weapons System (CIWS)

erghhh i was just about to post that!

yh those will pretty much take care of those suicide ships, such methods just wont work, waste of resources, why not arm some MiGs with anti-ship missiles instead? :what:

Suicide ships?

Is this a new spin on offering Euthanasia services?

Speed boats with C-802 will be damn effective.

Exactly, if you don't think AShM will be effective, a bunch of slow moving boats is not going to do crapola.

Then again, if your AShM's are a bluff and don't actually work, it might be time to start recruiting at the Terminally Sick Patient wards ... or various psychiatrist offices ....

Far more likely that the CIWS will greatly reduce the effectiveness of these as well to the point of not impacting the outcome in any meaningful way.
