Featured Iran Boots Out India From Huge Gas Field Development

. .
This would all continue without enhancing strategic ties as UAE and India are attempting to do.

I'm not really sure what UAE's grand strategic goals are. World is splitting into 2 camps...USA bloc and China bloc. I assume UAE will be try to be neutral between the two camps ...or do they want to be only in the USA camp? Do they want to militarily confront Iran or Turkey? Do they want to focus on economic development and build an Arabs only EU? Will they include non Arab Islamic countries? Or will it be a secular economic bloc of USA proxies?

My sense right now is that UAE will become American agent trying to push for regional cold war with Turkey and Iran, keeping the region split and weak.....So they can maintain status quo as long as possible.

Too many unknowns at this point about their intents. But I am certain about one thing though... If things go south and serious shooting starts between UAE and whoever.....India will do little for them. Iraq, Kabul, and Armenia are testaments to this.
The UAE is one of a handful of countries that the US does not run espionage programs in - what do you think that says about which camp their loyalties are in?

They’ll engage with China, absolutely, but they are a US ally first and foremost, and that would explain their extraordinary outreach to India which coincides with the US wooing of India to counter China.

Iran has decided to use local firms to develop a large offshore natural gas field, which was discovered by an Indian company and set to be developed by a group of Indian firms, Press Trust of India reported on Monday, citing sources with direct knowledge of the plans.

An Indian consortium led by ONGC Videsh discovered the huge Farzad-B gas field back in 2008. Iran and India have since negotiated the terms of the field’s development for years, in fits and starts.

Three years ago, the Indian consortium led by ONGC Videsh offered Iran US$11 billion in investments into the Farzad-B field on the condition that the Iranian authorities can guarantee it a reasonable level of returns. Reasonable, ONGC said in 2017, was 18 percent, according to the managing director of the company’s overseas investment arm.

Negotiations between Indian companies and Iran on the development dragged on for years, with pressure building between the parties in 2017 after Iran delayed its final decision about the field several times. India responded to the delays with threats of reduced Iranian oil imports.

Iran added fuel to the fire at the end of May 2017 when it signed an initial agreement for Farzad-B with Russia’s gas giant Gazprom. The news, announced by Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh, came on the back of earlier remarks that Russian energy companies may take the place of Indian sector players in Iran’s oil and gas fields.

After a few more years of stalled development talks, also because of the U.S. sanctions on Iran’s energy industry, it now looks like Iran has decided to forgo the use of foreign firms and replace the Indian consortium with domestic companies.

According to Press Trust of India’s sources, the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) told ONGC Videsh in February 2020 that it planned to sign a contract to develop the Farzad-B field with an Iranian company. ONGC Videsh, however, continues to seek contact with Iran about the field, but Iran hasn’t responded to the Indian firm yet, the sources said.

@Indus Pakistan Bro, I think this would be a perfect opportunity for Iran and Pakistan to work together on more gas deals. Due to current sanctions things will be difficult, but god willing Trump will go out of office and we'll be free to pursue such deals in the next few years.
About f**king time too!.
Ten years wasted dealing with these two faced f**ks who are only to happy to take advantage of the situation. However I would not look to pakistan either to do any deals with,be they current or future,as by the same token pakistan has proven itself to be just as worthless and unreliable economically as india has, with both nations either trying to take advantage of the situation or when that fails resorting to the same pathetic old excuse of "But...but...sanctions.....,we...we cant do anything because of the sanctions".
I think its well past time to give the indians an ultimatum over the snails pace of progress at chabahar AND to take pakistan to arbitration over its complete failure to fulfill its obligations under the ip pipeline deal.

.
Good riddance.

India has proven to be an extremely unreliable partner that is unwilling or unable to exercise strategic autonomy in the face of American maximum pressure. Indian foreign policy incompetence is just staggering.
Indians are ruled by Hindu Zionist lapdogs even though many Iranians don’t like the regime they still see Iran as an Islamic country even though the Persian culture dominated during the ghori, delhi, and Mughal empire these Hindus feel closer to the zionists than to Iran

As long as both of them are in the American orbit then they aren’t trustworthy

Victory for India as Iran could not find a single foreign country to develop Farzad-B despite lying for months that many countries want to participate in the gas field project. Now Iran is forced to use only domestic companies for the project.
Every country refused to develop Farzad-B due to US sanctions. No Global banks were ready to provide loans either.
LOL!!:sarcastic::sarcastic:
Well now you`re just sounding like pakistan.... :haha:
"But..but..sanctions......but...but who will loan us the money":omghaha:
Maybe for your next "Victory for india" you`ll lose chabahar as well.
But hey, maybe trump will make it up to you guys.....somehow,maybe a new trump casino at the taj mahal,eh?

Truer words were never spoken.:smart:

Hindi nationalists are among the worst bigots and bootlickers of the West you can find. Their toxic ideology and one-dimensional world-view is going to get them geopolitically isolated, at the detriment of their interests. Indians, from my experience, have no sense of strategy or autonomy.

It is difficult to comprehend for an Iranian how any country, let alone that of the size of India, is allowing itself to get dictated by the threats and policy wishes of a country that is sitting on the other side of the world. The inability or unwillingness to showcase any independence or boldness is staggering, and this subservient attitude is regrettably exemplary for this subcontinent.

But India isn't the only country that dances to the tunes of other powers. In fact, the countries that go their own direction can be counted on one hand in this world. One has to have a strong sense of dignity to be such autonomous.

From what I see Iranians even during the shah see themselves as an independent nation and an empire and they still hate England and Russia for what did to them in the 19th and 20th centuries.Indians on the other hand they still worship their white masters despite the fact what they did to them is worst what they did to Iran and no country received such treatment from the British accept for the native Americans and the Africans the British looted billions from them starved millions of them to Death and divided their country while Iranians still hate the Russians for stealing Caucasus and Britain stealing Afghanistan and controlling Khuzestan and Bushehr and interfaring and invading Iran in ww1 and ww2 and creating separatist states in Iran and overthrow the Iranian prime minister and last but no least arming saddam against Iran yet I still why Indians still worship the white man??!!

I think because Iran was its own empire white Indians where always ruled by outsiders

India made a huge mistake on joining Trump's gamble of maximum pressure against Iran, sanctions have two sides, only one side was Iran, now see how they sanctioned themselves too, you don't buy our oil, we don't buy your rice:

Iran Starts Procuring From Pakistan as US Sanctions Disrupt Indian basmati Exports - Grainmart News
Iran Accounts for a Third of Indian Basmati Rice Exports
September 25, 2020

Trade with Iran remains suspended as Indian banks find it difficult to run the payment mechanism. Meanwhile, Iran starts procuring from Pakistan as US sanctions disrupt Indian rice exports.

Iran Places Orders from Pakistan
Iran has started procuring basmati from Pakistan temporarily to meet its demand. This has raised concerns among Indian exporters who have halted basmati exports to them owing to payment related issues. However, Vinod Kaul, executive director, All India Rice Exporters’ Association (AIREA) claimed that this would last for a while as India will again start exporting to the nation once its dues are cleared. Also, he noted that Pakistan’s long term presence in the country would become troublesome for India as Iran accounts for 34% of India’s basmati exports. Besides, he mentioned that India needs to resume trade with the nation soon as basmati produce is expected to be high this year.

Payment Mechanism Disrupted by Prolonged US Sanctions on Iran
The sanctions imposed by the US have made it difficult for India to operate a payment mechanism with Iran. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry is scheming to extend a limited line of credit to Iran via EXIM bank.

Ajay Sahai, DG, and CEO, FIEO pointed out that India’s basmati exports have taken a hit this year. Iran and India have been discussing initiating a barter trade system for a year now. Iran said it would buy rice, sugar, and medicines from India in exchange for fertilizers. However, the Indian government pointed out that because India has stopped buying crude oil from the nation, buying fertilizers worth the number of basmati exports will not be cost-effective for the country.

Loss for India’s Basmati Rice Exporters
Data by CRISIL reveals that Iran imports around 1.3 million tonnes of basmati from India annually. However, the trade will decline by 20% this year, owing to payment issues. Exporters halted their shipments to the gulf nation due to the non-payment of their dues worth Rs 1,700 crore.

No Next Phase Progress in Chahbahar Port Amid Sanctions: India
India has pulled out from developing a rail link from the port to Zahedan in the Sistan-Baluchistan province for now. To this, an official from Iran stated that India must invest port-related ancillary projects. Further, he mentioned that though China is eyeing for making massive investments, Iran wants India to be part of its lucrative projects.
In all, India is expecting 8 million tonnes of basmati this year and hence will need a broader market to sell its produce.

Chabahar port is progressing well because merciful US has given sanctions waiver for the port.
Except Chabahar Port not a single foreign investment project in Iran has been able to move forward after Trump came to power in 2017. Even Russia and China could not make any meaningful investments in Iran after Trump came to power (other than signing MOUs which have no value without a final deal).
Perhaps Indian administration thought like you too.

Foreign investment is nothing but debt, so as long the domestic funding is viable, it's better to rely on domestic capabilities. right now Iran is flooded with money, so if we don't direct this liquidity to production, it will lead to inflation.

One of the these domestic projects is the gasoline refineries, Obama sanctioned sell of gasoline to Iran, India complied, Iran decided to produce it's own gasoline, today we export our gasoline. in the face of Americans, even to (U.S sanctioned) Venezuela. now guess who is the second looser (beside U.S)?

India, U.S. set for military pact on satellite data during Pompeo visit

India has lost it soul a country. it used to be a respected standard bearer of the non-aligned movement. They started the process of becoming an american puppet in the early 2000s when they shockingly voted against Iran at the UN. ( a country that didnt even sign the san fransisco treaty because it was too harsh on Japan)

At this point India can be considered a full american puppet. any information in Indian hands must be assumed to be in american hands. Which makes indian companies doing business with Iran a national security threat. Iran must start cutting every single one of them off.

India has taken a road that makes it an expendable pawn in american hands. They have piss poor relations / war like relations with virutally all their neighbours. India's future is a yugoslavian style disintegration if it continues on this path
