Iran, Airbus strike deal for 12 A-380, 16 A-350 jets

.
Don't you guys think that A380 is a bit overkill given Iran's air traffic
I think Iran could have bought 40 A320 Neos for the price of 8 A380s and they would have been more useful for domestic routes

India's Biggest airline Interglobe Aviation has 430 A320 Neos on order but has no plans to induct A380s

.
Should also go for Sukhoi Superjet 100.

Russians don't supports Mig 29A and don't sell any spare parts to us ( in 1999 - 2015 ) , also they are stalling S300 deal for almost 10 years but in the same time , they offered S400 to KSA and Qatar , this was a great insult to us ... we don't want to sign a big deal with them and even if its come to buying fighters , China's J11 and J10 are our primary choices ....

.
Why ATR? Shouldn't we instead go to aircrafts from Embraer and Bombardier? I think they have much better options for us, and also, they are much more popular than ATR.
Aseman already has a ATR fleet so going for more ATRs would be a wise move.ATR 72-600 is a nice safe plane with modern cockpit.Dash 8 Q-400 is also a good choice and worth considering.for turbofan engined regional aircrafts there are negotiations with Mitsubishi (my favorite),Bombardier,Embraer and Sukhoi as well.

Anyway an insider told me that this is also a psichological warfare against bombardier.all aircraft manufacturers should know Iran is no longer easy to played with.

@ultron even private held airlines of Russia dont buy that junk.only their flag carrier airline was obligated to buy 20 SSJ-100. we are not obligated to buy this Russian junk.(no disrespect to Russian aviation industry)

@Archie IranAir also orders 45 A320s.

As for Indian case, there are a lot of airlines with unique policies.your greatest airline is IndiGo that operates mostly between major Indian cities with high frequency and cheap service.also you have Air India as your flag carrier that operates to major international cities with more luxery services.these two airlines require different policies.

As for Iran, IranAir and Mahan Air already operate B-747 and A-340 to India,China and Germany.we have 80 milions population and 5 million Iranians live in overseas.our flag carrier must have such a plane to answer our needs.

well this deal is gonna be for only 114 airplane and we at least need thrice that amount. Also I guess for SSJ-100 you need more European equipment compared to Russian ones.

I don't know why so much priority is being placed on purchasing airlines. Wouldn't the money be better invested in places that have better RoI (Return on Investment)?

Is there really a demand for 114 new airlines? Or is this just bazari talk, to mention 114 airlines, so that competitors fight each other for Iran business, and then Iran goes, "Okay, we will start with 2, if we like it, we will come back and buy the rest" and then never come back?

you have no clue how ancient our fleet is.we have 150 to 200 airliners and most of them need to retire now.airlines are going bankrupted because maintaining these old planes are too costly.also EU and many countries have started prohibiting Iranian airlines to to enter their airspace because they are no more safe by their standards.plus Emirates, Qatar and Turkish airlines are taking advantage of our weakness.our aviation is in emergency and we must take action now.

114 plane is just a start.we need to import atleast 500 plane untill 1404/2026.

Dont doubt that aviation is a good case for RoI.

Railway is more important and ROL for us ... and while only 5-10% of Iranian can afford to travel by Aircraft , almost all Iranian can afford to travel by train ... but , making Railway is not as good as buying Aircraft for Propaganda purpose ....

Obviously you are following your anti-Rohani agenda in this thread.

Why most Iranians cant afford to travel via airplane? I give you two reasons:

1- Because we have been ruled by a mofo named Ahmadinejad for 8 years.
2-becuase due to lack of airplane, our aviation market is not competitive thus the prices are not reasonable.

Problem number 1 is already resolved and for the problem number 2 we have to import more airplanes.

Also you seem to have no proper understanding of Iran's geography.there are a lot of cities in Sistan,Kerman,Yazd,Khorasan and Fars provinces that are not suitable for rail network.it is too costly.but they can be connected to each others via regional airplanes.for your notice Rohani's administration is also negotiating with Chinese to build fast rail network across the country.and remember this you cant go to Paris with train.people need airplane for that.

.
Congrats to Iranians, this is just the beginning for you guys. I honestly think you guys are going to be in a much better position then the Arab countries in few years, because you guys actually use your brain...not oil.

your answer for everything is " AHMADINEJAD " !? before we continue to our discussion , just answer this " how many years you plan to use AhmadiNejad as excuse !? "

.

If maintaining them is more costly than buying a new one, then I will agree with you. I didn't know that.

But I disagree with you regarding competiting with Emirates and Qatar. You think we buy a new plane and suddenly we beat Emirates and get their market share?
