Iran, Airbus strike deal for 8 A-380, 16 A-350 jets

Iran has struck a provisional deal with Europe's Airbus to buy eight A-380 superjumbo planes to be delivered from 2019, the deputy transport minister told Reuters on Sunday.

A deal for 127, mainly new, aircraft which it hopes to complete this week also includes 16 A350 jets, Asghar Fakhrieh Kashan, deputy transport minister said in an interview on the sidelines of an aviation conference in Tehran.

He also said Iran was interested in regional aircraft including Mitsubishi's MRJ and Canada's Bombardier CSeries and has had some contact with both companies.

Private Iranian airlines are also talking to Brazil's Embraer and Russia's Sukhoi.

Tehran has long said it will need to revamp an aging fleet, hit by a shortage of parts because of trade bans imposed by Washington and other Western powers. Its planes fleet have suffered several fatal crashes in recent years.

The country is also is interested in buying over 100 aircraft from Boeing, deputy transport minister Asghar Fakhrieh Kashan told Reuters at Tehran's first major post-sanctions gathering of global business people.

. . . .
The ban on Iranians or any individual to enter US, who has travelled to Iran within the last five years is a sanction to keep Iran under check.

US should remove this discriminatory sanction against Iran first before Iran goes on to give commercial benefits to US companies.

It's clearly a discriminatory and fascistic law.
Ironic, since all terrorists who have conducted operations in Europe or U.S hail from closest U.S Arab allies, and this ridiculous 'law' is supposed to prevent ISIS terrorists from entering U.S. And countries like Saudi Arabia or Qatar are not in that list. And at a same time, not a single Iranian national has conducted a terrorist attack in U.S or Europe.

Wondering which routes IranAir will fly their A380? Its a long haul aircraft and wont be beneficial for flying lets say to Europe.
IranAir has direct flight to London,Paris,Frankfurt,Rome,Hamburg,Stokholm and Amsterdam in a very low frequency.this new fleet will allow IranAir to retire all of its current fleet(except for 6 A320) and it will increase the flight frequency to major cities in EU and Asia.

As for A-380,I believe its a good choice for popular European and Asian hubs such as Frankfurt,Paris,London,Shanghai and Beijing.also there are negotiations with Americans to establish flight routs between the two countries.considering that there are milions of Iranians living in USA.I guess LA and New York along with Toronto and Sydney will be added to IranAir destinations with A380 flight.

Also dont forget that A380 would be perfect for branding. 8 aircrafts is not too much anyway.
Great news. We should also buy Dreamliners from Boeing.
Mate, I assure you, A350 is a better option.I would like to see B777X, B747-8 and B737MAX though.

Great.. This is only the start.. The next 5 years will see a pretty big revolution in Iran in terms of social change, economic progress etc

Why ATR? Shouldn't we instead go to aircrafts from Embraer and Bombardier? I think they have much better options for us, and also, they are much more popular than ATR.

Why not !? :D
