It is motivated with law and order motivations. Satanic Verses is also banned in India, not with religious motivations but to protect law and order and maintain religious harmony.

Alcohol is banned in the state of Gujarat not to deny the majority consumption of alcohol or to appease muslims, it is done to honor Gandhi who was anti alcohol. Don't read too much into these things, these are small immaterial things. Like this case where an inappropriate act was committed, the administration sacked the perps and the police lodged a case under a special purpose law to handle the case.

and for the question about denouncing caste, India is a complex nation and for over 100's of years the Sudras have been oppressed by the upper caste and becaue of that they are now given a fair chance to compete with the rest in the name of reservations, and if at this point we denounce caste, it will not support the upliftment of people from the Sudra class and doing so will also take away the fair chance they have against the caste system.

Gita divides the people based on profession and that does not have anything to do with caste, do you actually know that caste is some thing like Yadavas, Jatt, Gounders, Chettiyar, Mudaliya, Menon, Nair, Nambodari, etc. which is no where mentioned in Vedas, Upanishad or Gita. These are are developed over time like SHIA and Sunny in Islam based on customs.

Once again when in doubt bring in Islam to explain things away and ignore the two dalit girls stripped publicly

My question arises from the assement ---> India is gonna be a superpower in the future as india's clout grows there would be a tendency to move more towards hinduism and which would happen mean defacto the brahmans would have more power, so it is safe to assume a muslim/jain/christian/sikh/tamil who ever wants to convert back to hinduism would prefer a higher caste than a lower caste.. just my opinion here!!!!

and not to forget there will droves of people from india and outside india who would wanna convert into hinduism if that happens and if they choose to be brahmans all of them will Hinduism allow such thing?

Contrary to what you might think........confirming ones caste makes him/her eligible for several government privileges reserved only for the "lower" caste people.......these privileges are not available for the "upper" caste people.......

Don't understand how this thread from being a discussion how 2 girls were ill treated has become full discussion on Hinduism and converting to Hinduism - by Ahok bhai, Peacefull and offBeat.
