Why would I want to evaluate a engine ? I thought we were talking about which ship is faster.

How can you say which one is faster when Vikrant is not even operational? IN in rfp said it should be atleast 28kn speed for Vikrant just like they wanted Vikramaditya to sail at 28 kn which it exceeds slighly though. What make you think that Vikrant will be inferior?

Because Admiral Gorshkov maximum speed was already 32 knots. Vikrant is designed for 28 knots. It is unlikely to exceed that by too much. Even if it does, it is unlikely to exceed Viki's speed.

But you can take consolation in the fact that Vikram will probably have better Range.
