Brilliant!

Indonesia is truly a sleep dragon on world stage. Hopefully it continues its rise and reaches its full potential Inshallah!

Thank You bro, Amin. I also hope Pakistan for the best.

This is the first time the two Army conducted joint exercise, but Indonesian Navy and Pakistan Navy has already done joint exercise for couples of times.

Indonesian Kopaska and Pakistan SSG has conducted Joint Exercise for third time, and the last exercise is in Indonesia.

Very nice. TBH, I'm a bit surprised that it is the first time because PA has cooperations and joint exercises with armies around the world especially of the OIC member states. Though I still think some cooperation should have already taken place between the two largest OIC members.

PA has an experience of fighting war in almost all kinds of terrains, i.e. from Marshy lands of Run of Kuchh to the deserts of Thar and Cholistan, plains of central Punjab, Potohar plateau and the high altitudes and glaciers like Siachin. On top of it, PA got a rigorous experience of COIN in difficult and inhospitable terrains of North Waziristan etc. Hence PA has somethings to offer to everyone.

Indonesia is tropical country with many thick rainforest like in Borneo so that offers new opportunities of learning and practice. I hope both countries will learn from each others experiences and strengths and this cooperation will further flourish.

However, I will focus on the broader cooperation especially in defence and science. Indonesia has good experienced aerospace industry i.e. RIAT. Especially in the developing civilian transport airplanes: light to medium and regional airplanes. While Pakistan has good experience with JF17 and now project Azm (which is an umbrella for multiple projects).

Similarly, space is another area in which both nations can cooperate. Naval structures and design of different naval vessels both surface and subsurface can help.

@Indos bro can you please list the core competencies of Indonesian R&D setup? then we can match and think about possibilities (No stress, take your time and update when you have time and tag me so I get the notification)

Yup, it all started from Defense Cooperation Agreement signed by two countries in 2010. Army and Navy have conducted Joint Exercise and I hope our Airforce can also do the same. We have F16 Block 52 and SU 27/32 so it will be an interesting exercise.

The reason why military exercise between two countries are conducted just recently (2016, 2017, 2018 for Navy Special Force and 2019 for Army Special Force) is because Indonesia was under Soeharto for 32 years. Most part of his ruling he dislike Islamist and as we all know this type of person dont have a strong sentiment of Muslim brotherhood, so he doesnt see cooperation with other Muslim countries as something special unless with Malaysia and Brunei due to regional closeness, although he always support Palestine and appoint Arab Indonesian men as foreign minister.

The period of 1999-2004 we are too focused on economic matter (struggling from monetary, economy, and political crisis) and also the military conducted military operation in Aceh due to increase military conflict with the rebel who see central government is in the weakest point with all the economic and political problem we have.

We are starting to improve our relation with Muslim countries starting from Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono administration, particularly after his second term. This is in my opinion due to the fact that internally we have become stronger politically and economically so we start to look out side.

Defense cooperation agreement with important Muslim countries like Pakistan, Turkey, and Saudi are signed. We also make joint defense program with Turkey, starting with medium tank program in which then continue in other sector, particularly aviation. Joint Military exercise with Pakistan is really special since we havent done this with other Muslim countries beside Malaysia.

I will answer your other question later, inshaAllah.
