However, I will focus on the broader cooperation especially in defence and science. Indonesia has good experienced aerospace industry i.e. RIAT. Especially in the developing civilian transport airplanes: light to medium and regional airplanes. While Pakistan has good experience with JF17 and now project Azm (which is an umbrella for multiple projects).
Similarly, space is another area in which both nations can cooperate. Naval structures and design of different naval vessels both surface and subsurface can help.
@Indos bro can you please list the core competencies of Indonesian R&D setup? then we can match and think about possibilities (No stress, take your time and update when you have time and tag me so I get the notification)
That was a very strange and non-productive line of thinking because PA has always been a professional army and renowned for this fighting capabilities and strict discipline around the world and its cooperation has not been limited to Muslim countries only rather PA has a vast experience of working with non-Muslim militaries as well... so I would say his thinking deprived Indonesian army of an opportunity to learn become better. But anyways, now it has been corrected and I hope the cooperation will flourish at a pace to make up for the time lostThe reason why military exercise between two countries are conducted just recently (2016, 2017, 2018 for Navy Special Force and 2019 for Army Special Force) is because Indonesia was under Soeharto for 32 years. Most part of his ruling he dislike Islamist and as we all know this type of person dont have a strong sentiment of Muslim brotherhood, so he doesnt see cooperation with other Muslim countries as something special unless with Malaysia and Brunei due to regional closeness, although he always support Palestine and appoint Arab Indonesian men as foreign minister.
In fact, the lack of resources both financial and human necessitates collaborations. Both countries will bring something different to the table and then combined teams and finances will fill the gaps. All it needs is a vision and commitment by the political leaderships of the respective countries. And this cooperation has not to remain bilateral concern rather more countries can be invited to join while the teams keep working... and a proper framework should be in place that brings the new candidates up to the speed before they can join.According to me, our R&D is still lack of funding and the core competencies of our R&D is in aviation and remote sensing (particularly because we have world class expert on this area). There is nothing special about Indonesia R&D except in those two sector. Other sectors are average just like the fact that we can build rocket but only can reach 140 km, we can build a satellite, but a micro ones, we can build radar but not too sophisticated like AESA, we can build assault riffle but many countries are also able to do so.
