Indonesian low cost carrier becomes new Airbus customer with major order
18 MARCH 2013 PRESS RELEASE

Indonesia’s Lion Air has placed a firm order with Airbus for 234 A320 Family aircraft, comprising 109 A320neo, 65 A321neo and 60 A320ceo. The deal sees the carrier become a new customer for Airbus.

The order was finalised today at a special ceremony at the Elysée Palace in Paris in the presence of President François Hollande of France, who witnessed the signing of documents by Rusdi Kirana, Co-Founder and CEO of Lion Air Group and Fabrice Brégier, President & CEO, Airbus.

In a single class layout the A320 can seat up to 180 passengers, while the A321 can carry up to 236 with the latest cabin configuration options. Lion Air Group will use the aircraft to meet growth requirements on its expanding domestic and regional route network. The carrier will announce engine selections for the aircraft in the near future.

“The fuel-efficient A320 Family will enable Lion Air to achieve the lowest possible operating costs and continue to offer the most competitive fares in the Asian region,” said Rusdi Kirana, Co-Founder and CEO of Lion Air Group. "This landmark order will ensure that the Lion Air Group will continue its expansion with one of the most modern and advanced fleets in the world."

"This announcement marks our first order from Lion Air - one of Asia’s fastest-growing and most successful low cost carriers,” said Fabrice Brégier, President & CEO, Airbus. “The news underscores the market-leading position of the A320 Family, which continues to attract new customers for both the current and new engine options. We very much look forward to welcoming Lion Air as a major new operator of Airbus aircraft.”

Offering the lowest operating costs in its class, the A320 Family is the world's best-selling single-aisle product line. To date, some 9,400 aircraft have been ordered and more than 5.400 delivered to over 380 customers and operators worldwide. The A320ceo and A320neo share over 95 percent airframe commonality, enabling seamless operation of the various models in a single fleet.

Since taking to the skies in 2000, Jakarta-based Lion Air has become one of Asia’s fastest-growing airlines. Today the Group operates an extensive network covering over 70 destinations in Indonesia and South East Asia

Many people here think he is nice guy, but maybe different person with similar thought ..............:pop:

You can check the post what Indonesia blow up illegal VN fishing boat...

To be honest, I don't think itsThee for Indonesia as the big brother of ASEAN to be blowing up boats of poor Vietnamese, Filipinos and Cambodian fishermen. These are poor people only trying to feed their family. Indo should target those corrupt officials from these countries who steal from the people/don't give a shit about their people instead of targeting poor fishermen. I even saw a new report on BBC, ITV, CCTV and RT about how these poor fishermen have been used as slave labour in Indonesia once captured for years. Most of them were only freed a week and they were crying it really touched my soyl to be honest. That's really a shame for indo . its inhumane .indo should review its policy on this one.

Pity that poor defenseless innocent slave............in fact if anything they are quite brutal, on several different reports, they even dare trying to ram our fisherman in our sea. But if you pity them, we can always send any captured 'poor fisherman' as a refugee in your country. Win win for everyone :azn:

Thai Fishermen Kill Indonesian Navy Personnel
Zoom Out Zoom In Normal
TEMPO.CO, Bangkok - Thailand police have yet to find the bodies of two Indonesian Navy sailors who were allegedly killed onboard a Thai fishing boat Sor Nattaya on March 8.

As quoted by Bangkok Post on March 23, 2014, the investigation results showed that the captain of the boat and 13 crewmen held Sergeant Major Alfriansyah and a naval employee named Edi hostage on the boat before bashing their heads with hammers and stabbing them with knives.

Thai police are still looking for four crewmen and the captain, known as Pad, after arresting nine suspects in separate locations. In a press conference attended by Indonesian Consul to Bangkok Yuyun Kamhayun the suspects admitted to having committed the killings.

The two navy personnel boarded the Natayya, which departed from Songklha to Indonesian waters, to look for a Thai fisherman involved in a previous quarrel against other Indonesian naval officers onshore. But a witness mentioned that they were stabbed to death with knives and their bodies were dumped overboard.

The police have seized hammers and knives that are suspectedly used to kill the two personnel. They also found a gun believed to belong to Sergeant Major Alfriansyah.

That was literally not a nice thing to do considering the fact that India never had any beef with your country nor we have ever supported any anti-Indonesian activities.Plus our Govt.(The independent Indian Govt.) supported your war of independence against the Dutch and both India and Indonesia were the founding members of N.A.M.:coffee:

came on let it aside, as contemporary Indonesia is much more mature and pursuing cooperation and stability to ensure her economic growth. Our adventure days is been our past, let's it be cast aside but don't forget them as it will be our learning material to ensure our step toward the future.

We have already forgotten that episode and our current relation with Indonesia is strong and revolves around mutual respect and admiration.Like I have already said,we have got no beef against Indonesia.A strong India-Indonesia co-operation is the need of the moment for the sake of the stability of the entire I.O.R.

We also want to resolve our dispute with China once and for all and i believe we are doing some real progress in this regard.I believe once we have resolved the present border demarcation dispute with China we can easily become great economic partners in the near future instead of being potential adversaries.I believe China has a huge role to play in the political and economical sphere in Asia in the coming years given the fact that they are the only rising super power. Both India and Indonesia can gain a lot from active co-operation with China in the coming years:-)

Well, I have noticed that developing countries are much more brutal towards their fellow developing countries counterparts than developed country towards them. What you said is rather funny but ironically you are right. If these poor fishermen were to sail towards European shores, they will be saved and given asylum. If we were to even dare treating them half as bad as indo then the whole world/UN, international organisations and even some developing countries will all be screaming like there's no tomorrow and accusing us of being racist, inhumane etc. This is something I find rather strange. As the biggest and most influential country in ASEAN, Indonesia ought to lead by example I think. Just my 2 cents

As for your last statement, you can't blame all the fishermen of being aggressive, just because of one or few cases bro. By the at why does Indonesia not also burn Chinese boats? :)
