Indonesia announces surprise bid for 2032 Olympics

Thank you, brother. Yup after three North East Asian countries have hosted Summer Olympic games, I hope in 2032/33 it will be one of South East Asian countries that will host it.

Another stadium is being built in Banten, a province just next to Jakarta. Together with Jakarta International Stadium that is also being built in North Jakarta, this new stadium is important for Indonesia to win Olympic bid as Jakarta will likely to be a proposed host together with Palembang in Sumatra.

As like Asian Games 2018, football games will likely be held in stadium around Jakarta and there will be 2 competition as well, for men and for women. While GBK stadium in South Jakarta will be used for athletic games, just like what happen in previous Asian Games 2018.

Indonesia also still have another good football stadiums across Java and Bali islands in case we want to use them for Olympic as well.

Banten new stadium is being built by Banten Local Province and the areas will also become Banten province sport center. The football stadium will be the biggest one in Banten and this is the design,

North Sumatra province is also building a big sport center that will include football stadium with 75.000 seats capacity. The facility will host many sport arenas like tennis, swimming, basketball, badminton and others.

For your information, there is national sport games in Indonesia that is held every 4 years in a particular province and North Sumatra has won the bidding to host the game in 2024. This new facility is intended for that games that in Indonesia is called as PON (National Week Sport).

In my opinion this facility can also be used for 2032 Olympic games particularly for polo, football, some athletic, hockey, and martial arts games. There will be athlete housing facility as well and commercial facility like mall and hotels and also hospital. I would say the proposed Olympic games should be called Indonesia Olympics with Jakarta, Palembang, and North Sumatra that will become the host. Some football games can also be played in cities close to Jakarta like what happen with Asian Games 2018.

With these facilities, I believe Indonesia Olympic committee doesnt need much money to run Olympic Games if they win the bidding as Jakarta and Palembang sport facilities have also been ready for Olympic.

This is North Sumatra sport center design. The area covers 300 hectare land and all land has been cleared in which the construction has also been started since last August. The location is near North Sumatra main airport. The funding is a collaboration of North Sumatra province, Central Government, and private enterprises.

But the Olympics is a sign of a country to be strong enough, to hold it.

I don't know what Jokowi sees from the government's perspective, from our budget, future prospect, etc, that our country is strong enough for it.

But Jokowi is not a careless person.

If he says we can do it then it's good news!

With current facility in Jakarta and Palembang, plus other sport facilities that are being built currently, I think it is already enough to host an Olympic Games. No need huge spending like happening in Rio. We should convince Olympic Committee to host Olympic in three main cities instead of just 1 or 2 cities and some football games should also be played in other cities in Java and Sumatra that has good stadium.

If South Korea and North Korea proposal is accepted to be processed, so I think we should bring our three cities proposal as well because it is similar in nature with SK-NK Olympic bid.

Actually Western Europe has already hosted so many Olympic Games, China has done in 2008 and three North East Asia countries have hosted as well, India IMO is not yet good enough to host the game, unless if they can prove themselves in hosting Asian Games like us. Australia if I am not mistaken has hosted one Olympic games before. It means it is the time for South East Asian countries that havent hosted any Olympic games to host it in 2032/33.

I can say 2032/33 should be the moment we shoud start to become one of the main powers in the world and Olympic Games will be a good tools to let the world now about that, so it is more like PR things for us. I suggest since that period Indonesia should be more proactive in solving world issues and more vocals as well, not only showing leadership in ASEAN circle but more like what happens during Soekarno with his Non-Block initiative. Of course in the condition where our economy can really grow quite fast and at least can reach 3 trillion nominal GDP in 2035 inshaAllah.

During 2021-2032/33, focus should be more on economy, industrialization, technology, and growing our high tech local companies while military spending should be remain moderate until 2033, the defense spending increase should be inline with our GDP and government revenue increase, keeping it below 1 percent GDP just like what we have done so far.

Whites go to Europe, Catholic Brazil, London, Sydney, Mexico, USA with it's white house, Japan, China and South Korea. Another football Stadium in South Sumatera is being renovated and can be a good stadium for football competition in Olympic. The renovation is made for FIFA world cup U 20 2021 (moves to 2023).

During Asian Games 2018, the stadium was used for female football competition. The renovation hasnt been finished yet and it can be seen on many new chairs that havent been installed yet and athletic field section hasnt been installed either. It has dual purpose, for football and athletic competition. The stadium is located inside the sport complex that was also used for Asian Games 2018.
