Indo-US strategic pairing has failed: Chinese report

India is like the Soviet Union in that it forced many different ethnicities to join together in a union. It lasted a few decades but eventually it broke up. Same will happen to India too.

You may dream all you want, scholars around the world thought that the Union of India would not survive even a decade but then you never know we guys are just too resilient.. The situation inside India has only improved!

India is not big enough to go alone, it's a very fractured country internally where religious, ethnic and caste systems make it a brittle union. Indian foreign policy is controlled from London and Washington, so they are already under western control.
If not for an idiot, it's not hard for one to understand the fact that most of India's and west's intrests donot match. If what you have said is true, India would now be hosting NATO missile defence, US military bases, marines etc. Now what do we have here? China getting circled by US bases and getting choked. Moreover India herself is a nuclear power. If you would even have an iota of grey matter, you would have realized how dangerous it would be for china if what you said about India is true.

First Chinese were saying Indians are too independent and wise, then India shouldn't, now oh they are already failed i.e. forming strategic pairing with USA. The bottom line is they get their pants dirty every time when they think India is paring with USA. Same was their condition when India could have slected American jets for MMRCA.

To govt. of China, stop talking for others, you look like stupid morons when you do it. Indian run on Indian wisdom not on the dictation and likes of some rouge state.

Oh I forgot to mention they tried their hard from head to crump to defeat Indo-US nuclear deal.
These backstabbers were giving the same deal to Pakistan themselves way before.

Indo-US Strategic partnership is successful on Afghan front, GWOT.

Though snubs like MRCA, differences on Iran, Myanmar do exist.

Indo-US Strategic pairing with respect to China will bear substance if Quadrilateral Security Dialogue materializes.

Shinzo Abe is back so on all counts it should materialize - the US is busy right now with it's pullout and realigning it's forces to Africa and Asia, Japan is busy with it's Island row with China - but the dialogue and the military/ navy exercises will most likely proceed. Australia is definitely in favor of it so is Japan, US and India.

Rudd Govt backed out of the dialogue after Chinese warnings.

Wonder if Gillard Govt will be any different.

Gillard is all for it. I remember her coming on a visit to India recently and indicating as much.

I don't see any conflicts there too - MMRCA loss was compensated by other deals
they wanted reduced imports from Iran which was done, and I suspect they want us to be the go between to get some consensus from Iran before the P5+1 dialogue happens
Burma is a JV presently.

There is a thin line to walk for India, India has to balance the relationship between US and China when it comes to protecting its strategic interests.
There will be no alliance whether it is anti US or anti China, India will revoke Non alignment policy and work for its strategic interests. When the strategic interests of India coincide with any of the above powers India will certainly work for the stability and progress of S.Asia.

I my view Russia is a natural and strategic partner with which India have lot of common interests for a long time, Russia has Oil and other natural resources, good defense industry and India has work force, market and strong economy. So they both complement each other and true strategic partners.

Yes right, India should emulate multi pronged diplomacy in the region. United Sates with all its might and economy is receding on global stage and on the other hand China is consecutively growing. India should not put all its eggs in Indo-US strategic relationship. Towering the US line will harm India’s position especially in the capricious Middle East/ North Africa and central Asia.

Russia is not the erstwhile Soviet Union and it is also looking beyond India due to many reason and Its oil & gas sources are far-far away from India. The only viable access to Russian energy go through Pakistan & Afghanistan as you rightly said it is thin line to walk for India.

I meant, if India had gone for F-18s in MRCA, then it would sent Indo-US military relations to new levels.

As for Iran and Burma i read that as an American diplomats opinions in wikileaks

Russia is not Ernstwhile USSR so it is also looking for strategic partners in Asia and already there is a partnership between ONGC and Gazprom. These oil companies already ventured into Vietnam and drilling for oil. ONGC also working closely with Russsia's Gazprom in far east Russia.

Russia also have fears regarding the demographic change in its Siberia and far east regions which are closer to China.

Technically speaking India is of not much use to USA other than economic relations. They both are trying to hard to come close on their own,but there is no natural tendency here.

We don't put US's interest over our interests. China is or neighbor and we trade over $ 60 billion and efforts are made to push it to $ 100 billion by 2015.

Both India and China knows that hostility among two most populous countries is detrimental. After all we share border with each other, US is thousands of miles away.

India, as always will take steps according to its national interest.

China thinks for itself and are quite selfish and nationalistic about it, they have long term plans and have chalked out an elaborate plan for domination, their present target is the US and Japan followed by the rest. For all practical purposes China and India are on opposite camps, both us will not say as much but thats the fact. So any alliance with them is a lie. They are just being opportunistic about it so that no anti china alliance builds up. China will confront India one day, make no mistake about it, India will have to tackle China that day and how we do that and how we get supported depends on the decisions that we take at this present time. This is a decisive moment for us and we can hope that we are on the right track.
