I tink we should promote film like this..as we have seen in case with saving face...a absoolutely mervollus

. . .
Would any of you Indian guys like to tell us if you are uncomfortable with the truth about India?

If so how uncomfortable are you?

Lastly why are you uncomfortable with the truth?

If you are comfortable do you know any Indians who are uncomfortable?

How uncomfortable with the truth were they?

Why were they uncomfortable with the truth?

After all it is just the truth is it not??

When does BJP targeted film makers?

When they show India to be not shining and incredible. Simply they are uncomfortable about the truth about India.

. .
then youre obviously illiterate....

You mean uneducated Sir? Can I ask you are you comfortable with the truth about India?

Then enlighten me I wise one.

That is incorrect use of the word I. Just saying like. I am often uncomfortable with the funeral of English that I often have to attend trying to discuss with some of you.

Now back to topic tel me how uncomfortable you are??

Back it up with source and No I am not uncomfortable with India's truth but as I said before I see glass half full. When some people speaks of India's poverty..I see how Indian poverty is being reduced. When some speak about Dalit atrocities..I see how they are being uplifted to even the post of the President of India..As I said its a matter of preception. As for you, you only wants to see one part of the story.

Don't be such a dramaqueen on a typo. English is not my first language either.

I'd say around 99% of people on this forum don't have English as their first language, given the majority nationalities here.

Just reminding Aryan_B that there is no need to be a Grammar/Spelling Nazi here.

Bit uncomfortable are we??

Back to topic its very uncomfortable this truth

How did you assume in your infinite intelligence and teleporting abilities that I am uncomfortable with truth(doled out another certificate for yourself dint you, you naughty boy!).. I have never claimed that India does not have cast problem, what do you even mean?

Also, it so happens that you have a problem with understanding the whole discussion thingy.

When you post a article with facts you genreally should put your views or atleast highlight the thing to ponder, however what have you pointed out let us see..
he has exposed the glaring realities about topics on which modern-day India, wedded to its own PR flannel about becoming a first world economy, does not care to dwell: the rise of nuclear nationalism, the role of political and religious leaders in stoking communalism, the continuing oppression of poorer castes.

Bombay Our City, spotlights the immiseration of Dalits whose make-do shelters were constantly being torn down by developers, as well as the casual contempt for them on the part of local elites. Patwardhan depicted Dalits questioning his motives: "You just want to earn a name taking photographs. So don't take photographs of the poor." He also included footage of local bards singing songs of poetry and protest, wild songs that revealed, as Frederick Douglass found in the spirituals of black slaves, "the highest joy and the deepest sadness".

You have highlighted the topics the parts about oppression of the lower casts and what the author thinks, what do you think Mr Aryan?

Documentaries are fine, but if India's so called "unconfortable truths" should come in media.

I'd prefer series like Satyamevajayate or movies like Peepli Live, Taare Zaameen Par, 3 Idiots.

These will a more strong impact on the intended audience.

The mass majority will never show much interest in a documentary.

Same again you Indians are becoming so predictable. What do you think of Dark India? The India you want to hide

And another Indian who can't handle the uncomfortable truth
We know dark India, we see it everyday. I tried to understand how it feels to be lower class low income Indian. I traveled in railway coaches where you don't space to stand on two legs, sat on the door with legs crouched. Traveled on bus which is so overcrowded you don't know where is your hand and where is your leg.

Met many general category (bhramin) upper caste mostly, whom you hate so much, feeling disappointed, depressed as person with lesser qualification but from RESERVED caste gets the job. You talk about oppression of lower class, i know cases where these lower class officers treat upper class employee like a slave..so the oppression is in both ways.

You talk about opression of muslims, in country where 80% are hindus, we still give them reservation. One of my professor was muslim and he never showed any bitterness neither did the students and his colleagues to him.

You talk about sub Saharan poverty.....i have visited the poorest village where their daily income is hardly 120-00 rps and even less.....with things of daily necessity, grain, etc so cheap they don't sleep hungry. Under-nourished ...sure but they survive....its not Somalia out here.....

We know the honour killings in Northern india, female feticide in rajasthan, we know rapes in Delhi, maoists attacks, we know regional animosity which exists.....but we try to sort it out rather than blaming on third or external party. There has been films on these issues and they have been block buster or critically acclaimed and given national awards.....

Most of the movie goers are these common man who face so much adversities, tension over home loan, job, transportation, transfers, kid's education.................they want a break, they want to experience something surreal, a beautiful landscape where there is a happy ending. They want to see a honest cop bringing down mafia boss where in reality they are have to be corrupt to have income to meet inflated economy.....
