India's Thorium cycle catches world's eye post Japanese nuke disaster

India's future of nuclear power rely on Th. It not only much safer but also found in India. I think India with in next ten years India will have large number of Th based nuclear parks.

We better accelerate the pace of making more thorium reactors. We need it badly.

A distinguishing safety feature of our new reactor design is its ability to remove core heat by natural circulation of coolant under normal operating and shutdown conditions. This eliminates the need for nuclear-grade circulating pumps, which, besides providing economic advantages, enhances reliability.
What happened in Japan was failure of the circulating pumps. Our scientists are extraordinarily cautious about safety and add many passive safety mechanisms in indias AHWR reactor design that will start work by 2011 end.

the nuclear plants being installed in INDIA are one of the safest in the world. U just have to look at the sheer no of active and passive measures being adopted for the safety by INDIA.

Well if Kerala has 30 % percent of the world's thorium then We are going to make sure INdia enacts stringent environmental laws so that our land it not ruined by politics...Other Indian states better follow suit....the environment is the key for any future success without it we loose..

More efforts should be employed for thorium based tech. Pumping more resources into this field can easily reduce the dependency on foreign co-operation in nuclear tech.. Remember there were talks few years back during indo-us deal that soon India will be a supplier rather than importer for nuclear tech... Its the thorium tech that will do this wonder. I can smell now it will happen soon
