India's shopping list of New Russian Defence deals - Innoprom 2016

T-90s, can airlift into Ladakh. One armoured brigade is being airlifted into location as we talk.

SPYDER is likely in for QRSAM ....

Yes T90MS up north , now we are talking some " Offensive Fire Power ".

Well , about Army QR SAM, lets see...
The more time passes by , the more I wish its cancelled and they go for DRDO VLS QRSAM , but as told by somebody , that's more delays..

Why are we buying t90? Why not armata?
Why are we going to buy old t 90s when arjun is available, that too in 1000:mad:.
Is there any need of tu 22 m3:undecided: in present times .
Going for another 6 phalcon ( those 2 in under construction are included or excluded ?). It also means our indigenous AWAC s are delayed :undecided: . So to fulfill the numbers we are going for phalcon.
12 S 400 + 2 akula:yahoo:.

People we are building T90s here in India , its just follow on orders.

.
And what role will IA have in its operations ?

Asking because I got hints that TorM2KM , the contender in QRSAM for Army had edge over SPYDER SR and SAABs offering because TorM2 relation with S400( in Russian aerospace forces is used to defend S400 sites) .

IA will have no role..
Officially it will be under IAF for namesake.

Unofficially, its under integrated BMD with satellites surveillance, S400 with multiple command centers (4 or more versus standard 2), Israeli C22+C6 LRTR, Barak 8 ER/MRSAM , Akash and then Pantsirs/Tors/Spyder/QRSAMs and later 77N6 HTK S500 Prometheus elements.

Also just help me imagine how much area a average regiment will be able to serve , thanks.

It will be 3 regiments of 2 battalions in Western border. Expect entire western border under the envelope.

2 regiments with 3 batallions with 1 in NE. (primary site may be Chabua)

With multiple command centers (4+ vs standard 2) ours will see more TELs being detached and placed sporadically. In simple words it will be much wider and will have elements of multiple layers.

IMHO we wont have S400 triumf but rather with all these customization and S500 elements it will be S450 triumf MKI

. .
1. TATA and TATRA tractors will be used , almost all the Russian systems which we use ,which originally use Ural or Zil trucks are now based on TATRA or TATA.

2.Of course ....
Problems ? To....?

3. There are 7 hulls apart from Iribis among whom we can choose , of them only 2 have been funded till now , and Russian Navy intends to upgrade only 2 more, to save funds for Yasen and Borei projects . India can virtually buy upto 7 more....!

4. Why would Russia buy Dhruvs ? It was our demand , not their necessity , unlike Mi17s which are a necessity for us as our paramilitary forces expand , and now start demanding air support from IAF.

5. Contract has been signed to upgrade all Il76s , And first two are already underway.

Yes they will have PS90. No, no news about structural upgrades to A50 airframes till now .

6. Ka226T, IA and IAF have a very huge requirement for Light weight helies ,and our own Luh is till now only expected to take its first flight some weeks from now ( however I think that will be delayed due to Monsoon ).

7. 1000 T90s from Indian Line , now doesn't that sound better.Further think about the price , 5500 Arjuns.... that's lot of money ..... 2500 T90s, 1500 upgraded T72s, 500-1000 Arjuns ... that's better.

1.... i was trolling for that part you did not get that... ohh well

2. china wanted the tu-22m but russia refused to sell them. russiabeing more economically reliant on chinawill have some effect or restrictions at least.

3. that is indeed true but are you going to buy 7 subs when your gonna build your own. remember make in india right? mind you they are for training mainly

4. once upon a time that was the offer russia refused and now india wants to buy them anyway. i feel they knew this would happen.

5. can you share pics if the ps90 on indian il-76's im sure the transport 76 and the 78 dont have the ps90 engines but the a-50 may as they are newer. but you can alway prove me wrong with some juicy pics......

6. will this first flight take place in ind a or russia. when will i be seeing an indian made ka226t?

7. i think you misunderstood here what i meant if the t90 needs to be upgraded why dont you use thetech from the rjun to upgrade the t90 instead of going to russia? heck you can offer it to other t-90 users as well

2.The refusal to China had a separate set of reasons....something not attached in this case, you see we have been using Tu142s, addition of Tu22M3 won't be that big for bigs to notice .... maybe Tu160 can.

3.The Indian SSN program will start by 2020, delivering the first SSN not before 2024, untill then we will have 2-3 aircraft carriers , 3-4 SSBNs to look for and other long range deployments too , and atleast 5-8 SSNs are required , in addition to Indian SSNs.
And the overhauled Akulas are not just for training, the word training is being used to underplay acquisition of such impactful systems by a nation with its own independent foreign polices , now just think who(big players ) would want another big player with a different set of policies ?

5. Will tag you when I upload it, a couple of Il76 transporters could be seen in that pic stripped down for overhauls and the news about the overhaul contract said about new power pack , structural overhauls and digital upgrades.
Older Il76s don't have PS90 , the newer airframes for AWACs, and possibly some later tankers have it.

6. The Indian LUH will only fly in India , obvious , the closest connection it had was from France .... no Russia here.

The Indian Made KA226Ts are atleast 18 months away , Russian made for IA will come sooner.

7. Some portions of upgrade of T90s will surely be inspired from Arjun , some others will come from the upgrade of T72 with Israeli and Polish help. Some elements will be from west being made under MII program integrated to T90. And some will be from Russia of course , the key here is that we are not all alone capable of upgrading T90, only Russia can , maybe Poland and Ukraine who offer upgrade for T72s can upgrade T90s too , but sadly we cannot do it alone as of now.

India's shopping list of New Russian Defence deals - Innoprom 2016

Source based news

Source is in Innoprom 2016 and has sent some details over chat.

India will be purchasing a complete new list of arms from Russia. This was disclosed in the Innoprom 2016 meet between Russian officials and Indian Chief Ministers (Chandrababu - Seemandhra, Fadnavis - Maharastra and Rajasthan + other states delegates)

This includes the following
  1. 12 S-400 systems under Make In India Plan
  2. 2 Akula II submarines - First lease and then purchase once lease expires
  3. 4 new Tu 22M3 long ranged bombers under black project
  4. 80 new Mi17V5 helicopters
  5. 6 new IL 76 aircraft for purchasing Phalcon AWACS from Israel and integration
  6. 200 Ka226T for which a factory is being setup
  7. 1000+ new T90 tanks with upgrades
  8. Up-gradation and modernization of Mig 29 aircraft for $ 0.9 Billion
  9. Further plans for JV work of Brahmos.
Substantial progress is also made in FGFA project for which separate announcement will be made by the governments

Will try and find some more news as the same should be out in interfax as per the source.

12 S400 is a big number and so is the new 2 SSN lease purchase.. Tu22M3 long ranged bombers.. so we have some already and now 4 new.. that is a very big black project..

Few unwanted observations :

1. S-400 : Initially when this was reported, there were talks of 12 regiments in some circles. Later we came to know that only 5-6 regiments will be ordered. Maybe we actually are buying 12 but are reporting only 5 ? Just like we never bought S-300 ?

2. 2 Akula class : IN was interested in leasing ( and later buying ) couple of Yasen class SSNs. But since that is not available right now, we will probably get Irbis and/or Kashalot. First boat should join in 2019-2020.

3. Tu-22 : This is supposed to be black acquisition. Why are state govts talking about this with Russians ? I thought 8 were to be procured ?

4. Il-76 : This seems to be untrue. Probably a total of 6 Phalcon AWACs will be inducted. But 6 new Phalcons do naot make sense.

5. T-90 : This again is confusing but may very well turn out to be true. T-90's performance in Syria is good.

Let me correct you:

1) 12 S-400 systems is 6 regiments. (one regiment = two divisions. One division = one system)

2)Not two submarine, but the second submarine.

3) Highly doubt that, but who knows.

Others looks more or less correct.

This shows the importance of strategic bombers, it's high time for us to start an in-house development program for long range bombers. Also we should go for su34s too.

.
All of you are forgetting 2 'improved' Kilos....S-400, 2 improved kilos, 1 more akula, FGFA deal and Super Sukhoi deal are few deals which could be signed really soon....like all by next year.

What crap? The closest India came to buying it was checking it out in a Russian Air base. There was an offer to lease them but politely turned down by India. Please do not spout any fantasy here as it is defense blog and not a tea stall stand for gossip.

India did used to have 4 Tu22M
They were leased from Russia for the Indian Navy while the The 8 Tu142s were going in for MLU
Their is no record of them ever being returned
And Tu142 upgrade got finished in 2012, which will see them through their retirement in year 2026

If you ever had TU 22M than I am harry potter. What crap? The closest India came to buying it was checking it out in a Russian Air base. If 6 more ll76 based phalcon means, there is a high probability for one or two to stationed permanently in Andaman nicobar islands. Am I right @PARIKRAMA ?

.
I doubt about the news of T 90 , we already achieved 80% indigenization made at Avadi. It now uses our own ERA and Kanchan Armor.

The Barrels are made at OFB Kanpur.

And i haven't heard about T 90MS deal for Chinese Border in a long time.
