India's permanent seat on the UNSC

Bro, the US too does all of the above.

So does China.

Why should being in the UNSC stop us from engaging with everyone? The only sticky point was Iran's nuclear aspirations, and there too we have taken a side now.

Still has not stopped us from buying Iran oil.

Well UNSC has lost importance, and no point in becoming a permanent at this form.... It might satisfy your ego, nothing else.... (my points are based on current scenarios)

Ho
I dunno what Chinese eat, lol but they don't eat cow dung and urine for miracle cancer cure. Only Idiot nation called India.

India for UNSC, lol they will serve cow dung and cow urine for everyone at UN council. No no it bad idea.

So tell me does cow dung and cow urine cure your cancer? Lol why eating cow dung and cow urine you Indian still died with cancer. Lol lol lol lol lol lol

 50 cents

.
If India get permanent UNSC seat, India would gain power to veto any sanction imposed on some other country, and no one would be able to table an anti-India punitive resolution in UN, ever.

Help me understand. The US regularly imposes sanctions on Iran, that the Russians and Chinese do not go along with.

How then does that work?

They abstained.

If they vote against it, no one could sanction Iran. Also most of sanctions posed by Us on Iran are bilateral, not international. The gig is simple, either do business with US, or do business with Iran. Most countries choose US over Iran.

Take anything a visiting head of state with a grain of salt. Clinton and bush also called India a superpower.

For India was to be admitted, it has a long way to go in terms of involvement in global affairs. Countries like Germany would have a stronger case to be admitted to the P5 before India.

Germany with its history will never be allowed to go nuclear, and never be allowed into P-anything. Same with Japan. That was part of the deal of reconstruction. National emasculation for posterity, or at least till the US and Russia hold sway.

does UN have any relevancy to current events what so ever ?. and if the let anyone else join the P5. then give another 20-30 40 years they will have to let the next economic/military power to in the club. then another then another then another

if everybody becomes member of p5 then obviously there is no point of being an elite club.

no i think that the p5 will keep everyone else out from joining them.

just my 10 cents

It was originally a post war P4 before an exception was made for China to enter.

India is the natural next entrant. And a precedent is already there.

I do believe though that we are not yet there.

Yes, militarily we should be given the seat by right.

But in terms of economy, social indices, and national infrastructure, we are simply not there yet.

Also, while I do not think it holds true for Britain, which rides pretty much piggy back on US shoulders, all other members of the P5, have a defense and arms industry that is largely home based and can thus sustain them in case of a protracted war.

We do not.

And we need to, before we can sit at the same table. So while I was enthused by what the US President had to say, inwardly I realize that the P5 is looking at India, monitoring India, keeping track of India.

But they (rightly) do not yet consider India ready, as an equal.

World have to accept India in UNSC as a parmenant member. With Growing economy and military might along with the commitment to world safety, security and peace track record, UNSC is incomplete without a country like India.

if you exclude the immediate neighboring countries
