India's Future Main Battle Tank (FMBT)

Avinash chander said that DRDO is convincing the for a 2 crew tank. He said that with plane cockpit like arrangement, tank can be controlled by 2 crew. It will become very compact then.

I know DRDO always wants to fly with fantasies. I again had to clarified certain things today. I dont know about the DRDO but from what I was told the army wants to retain 4 crew as
a) no auto loader can be made to handle 5 different types(he said it just isnt possible) of ammuniton the army is looking at
1. FSAPDS
2. HEAT
3. Penetration Cum Blast round
4. Thermobharic
5. Missile
b) Autoloaders are very unreliable especially in desert sands where the rigid engineering tolerance of parts of the autoloader face problems. Here advances in auto loader tech can make little headway as the commander cannot always be in hatch closed mode.
c) Field maintenance of tanks is much easier with 4 crew.(this is often considered very as important as it can affect availability and turnaround time, damage repair).
d) Lower number of ready to fire rounds in auto-loader based tanks.(very important if a variety of ammo are needed)
e) Weight need not be strictly 50tons as bridges are being improved in the required areas. There is a relaxation of the weight requirement as armour has taken priority.
f) Threat of spalling is increased significantly if an autloader is present.

Indian military industrial complex, your ROFL of the day

And that's the best you could come up with, ehh??!!Kid,if you must troll (which is apparently your only intention),then you might as well do it with some style. But judging by your posts so far,I very much doubt you have enough intellectual caliber to pull off such a thing. So my advice to you:

Here ends the lesson.

?? No but what is wrong ??Feeling complexity

You are quit funny you know. Do you even realise what a military industry is? The problem starts from the very basic issue I.e. false sense of pride.
Western ndustrialisation took three centuries, but Indian one took just three decades thanks to ingenuous techniques of manufatring projects that repeatedly fail at wat they should do, hence an unsatisfied customer complains only to be blamed for treachery.

Your false sense of superiority will keep churnng duds LCA, arjun, and the future contenders

Oh really?

Because these projects for example are going just fine.

Do you know what these were built on? Constant failures and retrying. You're going to see which methodology works out in Pakistan and India in the long run. Just like the ballistic missile and space department, which were plagued with failures initially, India's going to fly past you in armor as well.

And if the new method of making and producing armor is going to be the PPP way, like with Kestral(DRDO+TATA), it'll happen sooner than later.

These all requirements are BS. Tell me which tank has all this? 4 crew, heavy Armour, ERA and also trophy like system, Mine plough and all this in <50 tons. This is simply idiotic. You need to gave a Compact tank if you want <50 tons say the size of T90 or even smaller. There can not be more than 3 crew. When They have thousands of T 90 with 3 crew in in their arsenal , why they want 4 crew on Indian tank?

It's the 50 ton part that invalidates the rest:

Era, plus mine plough, plus heavy armor, minus the gun - Mine Clearing Line Charge (MCLC) instead (similar weight, each charge weighs 7,000 lbs - there are two of them):

Doesn't have, but can be fitted with hard-kill options

Weight? 60 tons - Assault Breacher Vehicle (ABV)

Apart from the weight the options are do-able

Two-man operation of an MBT has, of course, already been in use for many years in the fixed-gun Swedish S Tank , in which both men have driving and gun-laying controls in their fixed hull crew stations. This vehicle also carries a third crewman, seated to the rear of the other two, but he only watches over the operation of the automatic loader, drives when the vehicle is reversing, and keeps watch to the rear.

Choice for the FMBT does not lie only between two-man and four-man crewing as three men have handled automatically-loaded, turreted MBTs satisfactorily for many years with two men up in the turret and a driver down in the hull. If the turret is going to be eliminated, because of its weight and size, and its crewmen moved to fixed hull crew stations, where both will be able to drive, the FMBT can be operated by only two crewmen while the third man can rest in the rear to extend its endurance in 24-hour-a-day continuous operations.

Your country does not even has the industry to build a 70cc moped engine
So I think you should refrain from trolling on this subject

Yet we are producing Al Khalid and APC and Missile boats and ships and many more and none failed

Assembling would be a more appropriate term, like we have been doing since ages with our Vikers, the T 72M1s and now T 90S.

See!!Told ya this was gonna happen, which is a good thing actually. But they should retain the turret design of this early concept - very nice and slick design with minimal weak spots.
