India’s fastest train completes final test run in record time - Shameful

Really shameful, that we are talking of trains at 160 kms per hour.

Whats shameful brother ? They're going to upgrade the tracks, turnouts, switches, station passing layouts & fence it-to upgrade the top speed to 200 kmph

Nine rail corridors to have 160-200 km per hour speed - The Times of India

Two of our locomotives are capable of being upgraded to 200 kmph

Manufacturing of coaches capable of doing 200 kmph has already began

IR is in talk with Alstom,Talgo,Siemens etc for EMUs capable of 200 kmph operation

Pakistan will get one in CPEC before India

No you wont .Upgrade your present railways to 120 kmph, then troll

damn it!! still ur train is slower than our Bowler..

Your trains are as slow as 120 kmph
We have 2,225 KM of express ways where as India is only have 1,208.

liar....

Its a shame that you got fed up with posts from probably the only constructive and knowledgeable forumer on this topic. A very polite forumer I might add (isnt that rare on forums like this?). Indian high speed rail does not exist, and the best example for it to be referred to is China. Even the Indian government is consulting Chinese. You could learn tons of information by reading his posts. I personally welcome his insightful input whenever possible.

We don't care about cheenia maal.

New insulators for Metro’s Blue Line - The Hindu
Updated: June 23, 2015 05:41 IST
In a bid to prevent technical snags that lead to delays, the Delhi Metro has replaced insulators on the over head electrification (OHE) on the Blue Line, which is the busiest of all the existing corridors. The line that connects Dwarka to Noida and Vaishali has, by far, been the worst-hit corridor in terms of technical snags.

In the Delhi Metro network, OHE insulators are located at a gap of 40 metres and are supported by utility poles that ensure electricity does not pass on to the supporting mast or pole.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Managing Director Mangu Singh visited the Yamuna Bank Depot station last night and took stock of the measures being taken by the OHE department in recent months to prevent any unwarranted failure on main lines. At the depot, he was also apprised about the latest practices being followed to ensure cleaning of trains with minimal water, which can later be recycled.

After the Yamuna Bank Depot, he visited six stations on the Dwarka route, namely Pragati Maidan, Barakhamba Road, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Nagar, Rajouri Garden and Janakpuri East.

At Barakhamba Road station, he inspected the new toilets for public in unpaid area, emergency evacuation system of the station and the latest safety and security measures provided to CISF.

Really shameful, that we are talking of trains at 160 kms per hour. The expressways allow for higher speeds in car. Don't understand why the media talks so much about such shitty achievements.
Only in India you can drive a car at 160 K's on motorways/expressways.

195km in 2 hours and no stoppages。India's fastest train?

why shameless?

It is shameless because India's fatest train clocked an average speed of 90km/h and the media had to shout about the big “achievement”。:enjoy:

@AugenBlick
It's a great achievement indeed.
I don't think some should be so harsh about the definition of achievement. In China, we had 6 speed-up campaigns for our old railway system before 2008. And it has been proved that, old tracks can be upgraded to at least 200-250kph. So in 2008 even we didn't have real HSR at that time, we already had bullet trains operating at 200-250kph in upgraded old lines. So I think speeding up to 160kph is not something shameful ,but a start.

However, 690 rupees for 195km is quite expensive I think. A similar service in China, Wuhan-Jinzhou(200kph semi-HSR), 240km/1h20min-1h40min, is 59.5yuan(613 rupees), 50 trains daily.
@AugenBlick
This price is similar to prices of 300kph bullet trains in China. I think if some Indians especially businessmen can tolerate this price, then it's not a problem for prices of HSR.

Attention should be brought to the fact that the top speed of 160km/h was nothing but a red herring。The so-called India's fastest train took 4.333 hours to cover a distance of 390km without any stoppages! That works out a princely average speed of 90km/h non-stop。Imagine the speed If there were stoppages。。。:D

@AndrewJin I think by now we all get your point regarding Chinese trains, tracks and HSR. It's very nice to see good development there and you have my best wishes. But I think it's about time you stop trying to bring them in each every post in this thread. We have a topic here which is primarily about this Indian bullet train and we would like to focus on that only. Thank you.

You call a train that clocked an average 90km/h NON-STOP a bullet train?

.
You call a train that clocked an average 90km/h NON-STOP a bullet train?

I'll not call it HSR. Bullet train is more like a nick name someone came up with, for those Japanese trains looking at their resemblance.

Speed of a train can be increased of course, it's not a technical limitation, solutions are available, no rocket science there. It's a matter of cost-effectiveness. At the end of the day, a train has to solve a simple problem, that is helping people to commute from one place to another at cost-effectively.

Perhaps you are not aware, cost of local airlines in India is quite low, perhaps lowest in the World. Cost of some of the present First-Class tickets in trains are almost at-par with that of low-cost airlines. So, one has create a solution that is viable in economic terms too. India is, after all a big country and upgrading rail-tracks all across the country will involve substantial amount of cost. That's why the process of change is slower so that it becomes sustainable.
Indian Railway budget is done separately from the Union budget, which calculates and maintains provisions for that.

Right now, the focus is on building Metros across all the major cities. Long route communications are doing fine for the moment.
