Whats there to be ashamed of? Having high speed trains are a thing to be proud of,no doubt, but, not having them doesn't mean we should be ashamed in any way, especially when our railways is doing such a good job.

It's a great achievement indeed.
I don't think some should be so harsh about the definition of achievement. In China, we had 6 speed-up campaigns for our old railway system before 2008. And it has been proved that, old tracks can be upgraded to at least 200-250kph. So in 2008 even we didn't have real HSR at that time, we already had bullet trains operating at 200-250kph in upgraded old lines. So I think speeding up to 160kph is not something shameful ,but a start.

However, 690 rupees for 195km is quite expensive I think. A similar service in China, Wuhan-Jinzhou(200kph semi-HSR), 240km/1h20min-1h40min, is 59.5yuan(613 rupees), 50 trains daily.
@AugenBlick
This price is similar to prices of 300kph bullet trains in China. I think if some Indians especially businessmen can tolerate this price, then it's not a problem for prices of HSR.

Exactly this should be a normal affair
Guys...how many trains does India possess that are clocking 160KM/Hr?? This is an achievement to be proud of...because if you look at the amount of person hours it is going to save in a populous country like hours then this will be humungous...also success here will act as a catalyst for other areas...no??

High speed trains are a must for us...Bullet trains are going to take a while as they need massive investments and all together new Infra...

No need to be proud we are stuck at 160 Km when the world is moving at 300km

This can't be possible our railways ate dirt cheap

How do u know Railway will stcuk at this?? Does Suresh Prabhu told you this personally???
Because this is the only train at this speed and this is the peak speed. not even average.

.
We have 2,225 KM of express ways where as India is only have 1,208... it will be more then 10000 KMs once CPEC complete.:pakistan::pakistan::pakistan:

What is expressway?? Because last time I saw, our GT , EWC and NSC only was more than 10,000 Km 4 Lane RCC road...

By the way I will happy if Pakistan develop in all field , Except terrorism..

Lets develop South Asia togather..

.
I rate sami high speed trains over High speed rail because we manage the same from our existing infrastructure. Hi speed rail will require trillions of rupeed.

That is very good. Pakistan shall be ahead of India in one more area. Pakistan is happier than India, Pakistani's Maths is better than indian's, Pakistani men are sexier, Paksitan space programe is ahead of India, Pakistan missile program is ahead of India, Paksitan nuclear technology is ahead of India etc. Now Pakistan shall be ahead in one more area.
There is one thing we are lacking and gladly like to stay second to indians..its called trolling, you are the world champions of trolling and selfies.

So?? I don't understand this mentality...

1. When Govt talk about Bullet train, ppl start cribbing
2. When Govt talk about High speed train, ppl start cribbing
3. When govt dont do anything ppl start cribbing...

Some time I strongly believe India Deserve Sonia Govt (run b some puppet or pappu)
And Pakistan Deserve Zardari Govt...

Something basically wrong with our genes..

Two definitions, maximum speed and station-to-station speed, the latter one is more important.
100kph for station-to-station speed of old lines is actually quite good.
For semi-HSR in China(max. 200kph), the station-to-station speed is mostly 140-170kph.
