You have a strong logic. But your country shouldn’t have released this stamp.
One doesn't need to be an Historian or an expert to realise that apart from the military personal, there were others who were working or present in East Pakistan
While the strength of combat troops was around 34000, the rest were the likes of Police, Customs, Civil guards, Engineers, Mechanics and off course their families.

Logic is good if you have good enough IQ to understand
I know your IQ is higher then your previous governments.

One friend of yours is completely disowning the stamp and here you have found a child in the stamp and stamp is back in the fray as an evidence.
Consult and make up your mind.

Yes you are right about the civilians amongst the POWs.

“79,676 of these prisoners were uniformed personnel, of which 55,692 were Army, 16,354 Paramilitary, 5,296 Police, 1000 Navy and 800 PAF. The remaining 13,324 prisoners were civilians - either family members of the military personnel or Bihari Razarkars.”

35 K to 79 K is also an error of more than 200%. Some government that was?

Let’s keep the thread on track. I too have played my part by going a little astray. Anyone keen on 1971 numbers can open a new thread.

Comparing Kashmir situation with this stamp sounds a little illogical.
Pakistan had all the liberty and power to use its judgment and not release a stamp like this. The reason to release the stamp was to bring out the misery of 90K POWs and securing a release for them. They just went by the facts. They didn’t envisage that the future generations would try and twist the history and this stamp would come to bite them back.

Moreover, there is huge difference in figure of 35K being spun on this forum and 90K as accepted by Pakistan earlier. An error of more than 250%? If they really did such an error then they actually deserved to lose a part they did.
How is it illogical. All i said was stamps are not empirical pieces of evidence. The fog of war clouds the judgement of many people. The fog of war had not lifted after the 71 war. It didnt lift until 50 years it feels like with the amount of propaganda thats being fed by the indians. If you dont want to believe me about the figures regarding the 71 war in east pakistan, then you can read these peoples quotes.

Fog of war tends to twist facts. Not the future generations.

Take 1965 for example. During the fog of war, what were the claims of the IAF compared to reality? Wiping out whole PAF squadrons only for them to be interviewed the next day? Claiming to be in lahore only for the indian generals to contradict the govt?

So from 91 billion POWs we are now down to 79k POWs that also include civil forces like police and paramilitary?

Actual military personnel as per your claim are now 58k

See??? You keep working hard to find truth and you would find many more lies that your country has fed to you particularly when it comes to Pakistan

'The three divisions, of Pakistan army, by end November 1971, comprised a total force of 45,000, on books, including combatant and non-combatant troops. Out of these, there were 34,000 combatant troops and the remaining 11,000 were non-combatants, supporting men and CAF personnel. But between six to seven thousand Pakistani soldiers died in the war also.'

According to Lt Gen Naizi, Corps Commander of Eastern Command in 1971.

“The total fighting strength available to me [Gen Naizi] was forty-five thousand – 34,000 from the army, plus 11,000 from CAF and West Pakistan civilian police and armed non-combatants”who were fighting against the insurgents. Even if the strength of HL, MLA, depots, training institutes, workshops, factories, nurses and lady doctors, non-combatants like barbers, cooks, shoemakers and sweepers are added, even then the total comes to only 55,000.

Our neighbours don't appreciate. But we like fusion. Samosa with foreign ingredients prepared by naive hands with a dash of Israeli Chutney, sounds great. We might find buyers for this street food.
