Buddha is on record saying how a Kshatriya is "better" and more "superior" than a brahmin. This is after he got enlightened (also because he was a kshatriya) .

Jainism and Budhism are like protestants to Catholics of Christianity. Objecting certain activities prevalent during that period of time. Buddhism relies heavily on older texts from vedas. Reading is good habit.

History is full of women who committed Jauhar too, which is just another form of Sati. No one "forced" them to do it except their sense of honour and dignity and love and sacrifice.
