Another chance for the haters to bash India. As if this is the first time a newly-inducted product has failed in the world.

Well, what can one say to the haters...

Never heard of the Company. Most trains in China are CRH or the like and don't have these issues.

Perhaps they should have bought from a reliable company and stopped stuffing their pockets full.

ROFL now you blaming Pakistan for trusting the all weather friend's officially govt certified companies . Corruption's one thing but you guys screwed your best friend. India had bofors corruption but the guns itself were not shzit and top that china which regulates, has much power over it's own industries never told the company to fix it!!!!!

Our current trains are good
But their looks sucks! Hope
Some one will make it
Look better!

Tell this to our populist Railway Minister... she will keep on running these trains till all the iron in them gets oxidised. Max she can do is wrap crayon wrappers to make them worldclass  (referring to Duronto btw)

Read the article, there has been a snag in the testing stage.

However the thread title has been spun in a way to look as if the loco failed while transporting passengers !

This is offtopic but yes he's correct about the Chinese locomotives

The collapse of Pakistan Railways

:pop: That is a small private company. China's train manufacturing entirely by state-owned large enterprises.
In 1952, China has produced the first domestic train. We used them 59 years, they did not appear such incidents.

China Private companies can not be guaranteed product quality, Pakistan govt should not buy their train.

A bit off topic, but just to show what local conditions and teething snags can do to trains and locos. Some of the locos with Srilankan Railways.

M9--Alstom (France). 1800hp. Imported to Sri Lanka in 2000. This locomotive faced various problems (electrical/mechanical) initially, now somewhat slowly adapting to the local environment. In operation.

10 Locomotives were imported to Sri Lanka. Currently only 3 locomotives are in running condition.

M8(a)--WDM2 (Varanasi India). 2600hp. First batch Imported in 1996. Second batch classified as M8A Slightly shorter in length than the first batch. All 10 still in operation.

The Indian loco is apparently so good that they even have a facebook fan page :cheesy:

Well, what can one say? Just hope that people in the Sri Lankan govt. are wiser than the OP.

:coffee: Pakistan govt can sue the company, they will get compensation.

Indian Trains Failed in Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan government suspended the import of 17 power sets (Trains) from India, until the completion of the ongoing investigations into the quality of the recently imported power set from India, a minister said.

The first three power sets of a fleet of 20 were imported and one of them was put on track last Friday for the Ruhunu Kumari office train.

The inaugural journey faced a snag when the power set came to an abrupt halt near Hikkaduwa on its journey to Colombo from Matara last week.

The new power set reached Colombo Fort two hours past the scheduled time.

“We have already initiated an investigation into the suitability of these Indian locomotives. We cannot let waste public funds for spurious imports,” Transport Minister Kumara Welgama said.

Minister Welgama also expressed his reservations about the quality of these power sets imported from India under an Indian Credit Line and added that a thorough test on the technical performance and the safety of passengers had to be conducted before the Indian power sets are put on track.

“I have appraised President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Indian High Commissioner Ashok Kanth about the developments,” Minister Welgama stressed.

Sri Lanka Railways would never hesitate to terminate the contract to import power sets if the investigation report recommends so, he said.

But at least the Chinese government can make sure that these private companies aren't selling dodgy products to other countries. Cause it effects the reputation and brand image of the country at the end of day?

Having said that, don't doubt your companies so easily just to put blame on them, from what I have heard the Chinese locomotives were too heavy for the Pakistani tracks, which lead to the problems.
