Indian students should consider studying in China

Regardless, my original point was that, its not about the quality of Chinese degrees. Rather, it has more to do with perception and prejudice. I wasn't kidding when i said returning students from China would find themselves lost and unwanted in the Indian job market.

Indian students should consider studying in China

Indian students could study in China to learn Mandarin(The language of the enemy).
For the quality of education itself, Indian universities are considered to be far superior to Chinese universities. An IIT degree will land you a job at any of US's fortune 500 companies, Goldman Sachs, etc. Not so with a Beijing University degree.

Of course our Chinese friends wouldn't know this.

Like Shabz said its not compulsory for the undergrads to do research but it is compulsory for the master degree....

Can't find any superior Korean universities on this list. Mind helping me look?

Found Seoul University at 50 on this list, right below Osaka University. I'll let you take a look at who is above Osaka.

IIT's don't have infrastructure n facilities equivalent to U.S "low level" and chinese medium level universities!!

but still r in top 50 engineering colleges!!!

do u chinese trolls know why???

p.s: answers: entrance exam and quality of students!!!!

And I'm telling you a fact: the best of India does not match up to the medium level in China. But unlike in India, people elsewhere hold no such prejudice against degrees for where they are given. Tsinghua beats UC Berkeley as the source of US graduate student researchers. US also recognizes Chinese medical degrees. My old school in China has Chinese grad students who went to University of Science/Tech Chittagong for their BS degree and were never looked as inferior.

I'm willing to bet that the rigid heirarchy mindset of Indians is responsible for your current backwardness.

Does that apply to India's 'recognized' higher education institutions? Maybe you are confused? If that applies to all of them, then that's probably one of the most dumbest and the most biased comment I've ever heard in my academic experiences.

Oh, and before you look down on my education just because of my flags, know that I was mostly educated abroad. Got my Bachelors from Thailand :toast_sign:

Chinese posters don't know much about the outside world because of a heavy censorship. Chinese censorship technology(aka The Great Firewall of China) is simply amazing and has no equal in the world.

Just type in the word Liu Xiaobo at Chinese search engines and see what happens.

so many Korean students studying in China, some reports say that half of the foreign students study in China are Koreans.

Too bad your American masters don't, and instead prefer Tsinghua.

American employers do not prefer a Tsinghua degree at all. A Tsnghua degree is worthless to American employers seeking employees in the US. An IIT degree is considered to be roughly equivalent to an MIT degree in the US, hence the heavy recruitment.

American employers will recruit Tsinghua university graduates for their Chinese operations, but not for their US operations. Chinese students that the US corporations recruit for employment in the US are the ones who graduate from US universities.

Gosh... I did not knew this that in respective fields IITs are breaking even in top 50.
I think chinese posters will never thank this post

I took a look at the QS individual subject ranking, and here's a couple of things I found.
1) Chinese universities are among the best in Asia in arts and humanities. In fact PKU is the only Asian university with a top 150 history department (it's ranked 19). Mainland China also made a strong showing in Philosophy with 4 universities in top 150. Only three other Asian universities made it into top 150 on the Philosophy ranking were from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore. Chinese universities also perform well in social sciences except political sciences, for obvious reasons.
2) India universities seems to focus too much on engineering discipline. For a country with such strong cultural heritage, I think it's highly regrettable Indian universities are mostly absent from the arts and humanities lists.
