Its the same in Pakistan the ones not selected in NUST , LUMS and IBA go abroad or settle for private universities. China would be comparable to Malaysia/Turkey bracket rather than US/UK/Canada/Germany when it comes to quality of universities.

China is our friend and all but sorry there is no comparison between universities of UK and China. UK has one of the best education systems in the world with universities that encourage innovation and out of the box thinking. There is a reason that along with US it has the most universities in top 100 or 200 in the world. Chinese education suffers the same brain drain that our system does.

Universities in the west had one advantage only Better funded. But China's economy improving they can afford to spend more in R&D. Even India is catching up in this regard but China leads and will take over UK at least if not US when it comes to universities soon enough.

Students from Pakistan is also preferring and heading for Chinese Universities in large numbers over UK univ. And their actual numbers as of now is in excess of 22,000 students.

The reason is simple.

1. UK universities are lesser in number and under strict laws and restrictions.

2. A lot of Indian students go to China to study medicine when they don't get seats in India. Just need to pay a lot of money (but less than many private medical colleges in India) and you'll be a doctor in a few years. I personally know some of these students. They couldn't get seats here.
It's actually hard for them to work in India afterwards because they've to do more formalities. They still go because being a doctor is everything for their family.
Same reason so many Indian students in Ukraine.

And 99% of them cant clear entrance conducted by IMA

Hong Kong is a different story and its education system has nothing to do with mainland China. Its education system is modelled after the UK. Mostly people go to study in China because its much more affordable than Its Western counterparts. You might know about the reputation of Chinese MBBS in Pakistan. Nobody takes them seriously.

at some point of time. chinese students used to come to nalanda to. learn..
no amount of jingoism can reduce that..

chinese and indian people to people contacts will always overshadow the quality of sino pak people to people relationship.

There's actually little direct contact between China and India, due to the Himalayas.

Chinese monks, not student. Nalanda was a Buddhist monastery. Although liken to be university, actual Nalanda university was founded just 10 years ago.

Christianity is the fastest growing religion in both India and China.
