Indian singer gone bonkers about Pakistani singer

He is right the country banning is wrong. India singers were banned in Pakistan for years can someone let me known when was the ban lifted?

He is very well with in right to ask for similar permission he is demanding in his own country.

Whats right goodperson??if Pakistan banned our artists and we allow them to perform here only show how better we are from them..and also Pakistani artists perform here even at Abhijiths peak time..why didnt he raised his voice then...why all of a sudden he has a patriotic outburst??

And can u justify his action calling a singer what ever he like in a TV programme which millions of people watch ??That pakisthani singer came to participate in a Indian show..he is a guest here..What right have Abhijeet to insult our guest?? is this our famous 'Adhithi Devo Bhava' ???

Oh! Please "Atif aslam" is a great singer. Lets not get into criticizing artiste we should vent criticism on biased Govt policies.

I never critisized Atif aslam because he is pakistani..... i really like Rahat Fateh ali khan... i however just dont like atif.. he sings like an untrained singer... no modulation in voice....
however feel free to disagree... but whatevere you say He is NOT a Great singer.....

Indian music industry is dominated by Bollywood music since ages .We never had or there was any real market for pop music since bollywood traditionally catered all sorts of music to listeners .Hence, unlike most places in the world ,we never had developed pop music though after the arrival of music channels,we saw pop albums of all sorts and they did really well but again fizzle out to bollywood music.

PS:On regional languages ,its the pop albums dominate the market in a big way.

Personally I think core Indian musicians (like Euphoria, AR Rahman (non-movie stuff), Daler Mehndi, Instant Karma) are all so much better than whats seen and heard in Indian movies.

I think the problem with those musicians is the same as it is in Pakistan only in epic proportions. The problem is our public which has extremely poor taste in music and we give weight to pop-crap produced by Atif and Abhijeet and ignore the serious music produced by the core musicians.

Everywhere around the world there are people who traditionally prefer ONE sort of music more than all else. Noticed in India and Pakistan people like all sorts of Music? Because Indian music is more or less, nothing of any genre, just a lot of influences infused together and no one is intelligent enough to figure out, that there's something else that is a lot more similar - noise.

By comparison to Atif Aslam, who fluctuates between NFAK type qawalis, romantic numbers and politically motivated (so called) rock songs, others like Junoon and Noori have had a much more focused approach.

I guess I shouldn't be complaining. There's a reason why pop is popular. It's common, its for the layman, its not supposed to be what I'm expecting it to be.

I do not think Abhijeet will get any traction in India, as I know. I think we should in-fact encourage more people to people contact between the two countries. I have said this time and again before 26/11 there was good time between the two countries and if that would have continued we were heading for some solutions. Right now people of both side are more interested in spreading hatred, so it seems that it will take few years before we realize important of peace again. Abhijeet you are surely frustrated.

agreed. its up to the individual to support him or not but showing his anger against Pakistani artists in a TV programme clearly means its just a public stunt nothing else ..

Regrading one way traffic. Indian movies are now shown in Pakistan. And their singers do come to Pakistan to perform. Just recently Malika Arora and her sister came to do a Mujra in a wedding in Pakistan

Well yes, borders do make a difference right? He might be known by many but not all. Abhijeet is very famous in India, although now he seems to be out of work. There is new breed of singers coming in, let me test some more knowledge of yours? Do you know sonu nigam, himesh etc.

Actually both countries place the same restrictions on each other's artists. The government has nothing to do with controlling who comes in and who doesn't (except for that old Khan guy who came and abused Pakistan and started brawling with the host of the show). Like Indians have their favorites from the Pakistani industry, Pakistanis have their own favorites from the Indian industry and only those that will come to Pakistan and generate revenue would be brought in by the sponsors.

Now just because Himmesh Reshammia does well in India don't expect him to do the same in Pakistan. Daler Mehndi is a bust in India these days, but trust me if he does a concert in Lahore it would be nothing short of a packed crowd.

So business ultimately has the final say in these things.
