Indian restaurant in Bahrain shut down for denying entry to veiled woman

Who is that girl ? I only believe Journalist account twitter than civilian twitter account (which is not even verified )

If that true than it could be British Indian

Dont just believe on twitter owned by non journalist civilian. Even we should screen further and only journalist worked in mainstream media that has big chance to twit on true thing
She’s the one who went to the restaurant with her friend who was wearing a Hijab and was denied entry for that. Manager was a brit working for the Indian restaurant.

.
The hotelier is not a British Hindu of Indian origin. People are hounding this female on Twitter trying to force her to confess that it was a Hindu

Ashok Swain will not leave her until he has done a DNA test on the manager. What if his full name is Lloyd Kumar and he is half Indian? Kuch to Indian hoga iss bande mein yaar. Maybe he was in India a few days ago and ate some namak here.

Not just him. Even now a lot of people message her on twitter asking for proof. Not sure what these people will accept as proof

Not sure what these people will accept as proof
They will need the testimony of a brother-in-law in Bahrain working as a helper in an Indian restaurant. That is, strictly in the case of Indians only, who are well known for being capable of such jobs and nothing better.

Others will be prudent and wait for an official correction in The Independent. Until then, guilty until proved innocent.

How do we know she is the one that accompany that hijab women ? Please show verified twitter account from Bahrain journalist or Bahrain media to confirm that.

Any way, if it is true, we have to check whether Indian owner has something to do with it, further question and investigation by Bahrain police needs to be done to that manager.

The word 'Indian' came up because it was reported 'Indian'.
The video was not the original report; surely watching it makes it clear that there has been a different account going around. Surely it isn't too difficult to gather from the young woman's direct narrative what actually happened, and her explicitly saying that other reports were wrong.

The sitting down and sorting everything was personal. There was still a breach of the law. Surely we do not have to believe that the authorities would have allowed this egregious insult to pass unnoticed just because the person doing the insulting turns out to have been British - 'English', in your terms. It would get shut. I am sure that the owner is actively pursuing re-opening, with the young women's testimony to support his efforts, BUT the point is for our fellow members on PDF to sit back and absorb the truth as it has been told in the video.
Joe I was in Islamabad with a group of friends.
One guy spent time talking to me as we hiked in the hills. I didn't know his name. The time came for lunch and he told me he was Hindu and felt nervous as some people may object to him eating with them. I said if anyone objects come and east with me from my plate. He was shocked. Humanity comes 1st. All persecution is wrong.and people who do this must be punished severely

We have seen for ourselves that the regular steam press is not always right, we have seen for ourselves that sometimes a citizen reporter, and social media reports reveal the truth early, the regular press catching up later.

What impresses me about this, and I am repeating this, is the dogged determination of the Pakistani members to cling to the original defamatory story, and to deny any possibility of the video being correct. If the mainstream media change direction and start confirming the narrative of the video, what is supposed to happen? Am I to believe that those who, metaphorically speaking, shut their eyes, and screamed loudly to avoid hearing anything contradictory to their hasty conclusions will now be convinced of the alternate account? Seriously?

It is not a question of what happened at the restaurant, whether the offending person was ethnic Caucasian British or Indian, or whether or not the restaurant will be temporarily shut down, or permanently shut down, or fined, or something. It is a question of the panicked reaction of members who did not want to let go of this wonderful piece of scandal that had dropped into their laps.

That reaction continues. If it were not so sad, it would have been funny.

ANYTHING against Indians, please, let's not dig up the truth, no need for such extreme measures.
Well I guess I go with the press. Anyway, his real identity will be revealed soon, and the real sad thing is you can no longer be in denial about the hate your countrymen now export abroad....

I think most Indians here were taken aback at the alacrity with which this turned into Hindu bashing, when the only fact known at that point of time was that it was an 'Indian' restaurant. I am sure you will agree that 'Indian restaurants' could be (and are) owned by anyone, including non Indians. There was no mention of the manager's nationality or religion at that point.

I have already condemned discrimination based on dress in my earlier posts so I will not repeat those points, except that it seemed to be a restaurant catering to gora expats (from photos on Google), and the declining seems to be more to do with barring conservatively dressed people, rather than based on religion. They would probably have barred a saree clad woman too. It happens in Indian clubs also. Not that I endorse it. It is elitist and wannabe, but not necessarily communal.

The casualty in this saga has been logical reasoning. As much as we should believe in facts, we should also keep some room for subjective analysis in our judgements. There are many Indians in the middle east, and they are all acutely aware of the strict laws of the kingdoms, and in fact there is a perception that laws are biased in favour of locals. One of the main apprehensions / questions among blue collar Indian workers migrating to gulf is "will I be put behind bars for something that I did not do?". When I read about this incident initially, I found it difficult to believe that an Indian could be so audacious in a gulf Kingdom.

There was also an insane amount of interest in "fact finding" and "verification", from people of various nationalities, as if we are all so steadfast in our pursuit of truth, when the truth is we like to accept what we want to believe. An Indian journalist who hates the right wing is acceptable as a source, even though his own source may be unverified. I know we Indians collectively may be responsible for our own image on online forums, and we are 'guilty till proven innocent', so it is all a part of the journey.

Sorry for the long rant.

and here we thought Neanderthals were extinct
Clearly not given the responses on the thread, right.

Circumstantial evidence suggest that Islamophobia rampant in India is being exported to countries along with the migrating Indians.

Hate crimes go up every time India goes to election which is every month given her size.

Fashion and Fascism usually takes a couple of decades to move from West to East or vice versa. Unfortunately lawlessness in India presents an ominous threat to her minorities.

The usual casual and small talk with Indians usually took along the lines of colonialism, culturalism or fauna of India with anti Pakistan rhetoric thrown in between. This has now fully evolved into some warped clash of civilisations intermixed with religious liberties.
Or typical Pakistani aversion to read and comprehend the issue at hand?

We can still indulge in conjecture. I'd say that while we here do not have all the facts and evidence yet..

it is not entirely implausible or beyond the scope of possibility that some random person lost their mind and was a complete idiot, or that such a person could or was indeed of Indian origin, specifically, a Hindu Indian.

perhaps I'm biased (probably am, to an extent)

my best guess would be that it is a BS story and that they (whoever is perpetrating/peddling lies) are out to score some ethnically motivated points and create discord.

Out of India may be the false, cringe worthy Bharati theory that you like. Aryans from Southern Russian Ural plains and Sharif [Deva] descending from Prophet Ibrahim and Kethura came into India. This is not a theory to me, it's a fact. They founded what is known as the Vedic caste system. To outsiders the latter is indistinguishable from the former, but there is evidence to indicate the two groups were of different origin.

That's an improvement. I thought you were all ready to claim those unidentifiable burial sites in Bahrain as Indian sumerians.
