Indian Punjab is Self Destructing....Unlike Pakistan's Punjab

Indian Punjab is the primary goal of Hindu rashtra of Delhi and South Punjab.

Pakistan Punjabis are truly hard working, rich and technology savy people with dreams of having big industries as an export oriented provincial state.

Indian Punjab's agri output is greater than Pakistani Punjab's even though it is smaller both in land area and population terms. Until Pakistani Punjab exceeds Indian Punjab's agri output, I'd say Indian Punjab is still ahead.

Y
-Drug Addiction
-Paddy Obsession ( Just basic farming unlike Pakistan's Punjab where there is a major reliance on LIVESTOCK
-Water Level Dropping Drastically
-Very Low employment opportunity or industry. Pakistan's Punjab has country's major industrial hub (Lahore, Kasur, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Wazirabad)
-People Obsessed with Going abroad than any indian state
-Indian Punjab is considered faraway peripheral state unlike Pakistan Punjab which is considered the HEARTLAND or MAINLAND.
-Indian Punjab is in Continuous Decline in wealth which made it 15th richest from 1st. Unlike Pakistan's Punjab which is the most prosperous state.
For more than 6 million of people who were forced out/migrated from East Punjab to West Punjab in 1947, It Reinforces the Point that they made THE RIGHT DECISION.

What do you guys think?
You need to understand this. Pakistan are alao brianwashed by these sikhs. We are in majority in Pakistan and there is no threat to our culture.
So Pakistani punjabis have to act more people who rule Pakistan. Not aome random indian state full of nationalism.
Pakistan punjabis have to encourage other Pakistani cultures phustoon sindhi balochi gilgiti balti etc etc to thrive and not become one like small erhnic state.
We are majority. Pakistan mostly has pm from punjab. We have no threat in Pakistan.
Pakistan is first. Punjab is after. Nothing is above Pakistan.
If anyone tries to root narionalism in punjab Pakistan. It needs to be crushed immediately

Pakistani and Indian Punjabs have nothing in common except the language.

Most Punjabis in Pakistan don't even know there's a Punjab in India too. The cultural and religious differences are way too opposite in both Punjabs to try and link them together.
even the language. their script is different. cant read Gurumukhi.

Lahore, Gujranwala and Faisalabad in Pakistani Punjab have a higher total GDP than the entire Indian state of Punjab. But that's besides the point.

In India, Indian Punjab had the highest per Capita GDP in 1980s. Now it ranks 16th.. Punjab hasn't progressed like other Indian states .. Center doesn't trust Punjab... Hindus don't trust Sikhs

Indian Punjab is not as bad as these videos make it sound. While the relative stagnation in per capita income growth may look indefensible, Punjab is still seen as one of the more prosperous states in India. The per capita GDP of Indian Punjab is $2300. A lot of migratory labor move to Punjab for work from other parts of India.

It would be good to relate these videos with the periodic context in which they were made. Sekhar G. has been an open proponent of farm law reforms. Unsurprisingly, these videos give the narrative that farm law reforms are what is needed to fix Punjab's economy.

What is the GDP per capita of Pakistani Punjab after the rebasing? Curious to see the relative difference in per capita income between the two regions.

But India's growth has been led by the IT/Service sector, which would favour hyderabad etc. Indian punjab has remained mostly agriculture, with no prospects of driving growth.

As economies develop there is less focus on agriculture and more on service sectors.

Now Pakistan's Punjab also has Universal Free Health Care system....!

lol No my friend. I have far away relative in Jhelum who is on wheel chair and she cant move. She called these people so many times and all they say is its not there in your area yet.

Sanghi Gupta is bullshitter. We all saw how developed UP is when thousands of dead bodies were floating in ganga because they couldn't afford to buy wood.

This is despite the fact that state actively punish Indian punjab. Thats why you don't see much investment there. So they chose to migrate outside India.

More evidence of self destruction...!

You sound like a Indian troll. Its not self destruction but destruction by Indian state. Still Indian punjab have least poverty in India.

There is no point comparing the two Punjabs. For Pakistan, Punjab is the economic engine and defines a large chunk of its linguistic and ethnic identity. It is also politically dominant, so it will be surprising if it is not doing well. In India there is no one dominant state, which is a good thing.

When Indian commentators are critical of the current state of Indian Punjab, it is to be considered a sort of a compliment, because they expect it to do much better, like the state that was the cradle of Green revolution and synonymous with hard working, practical minded people. Punjab is a state that I have visited the least among Indian states, so I don't know how things really are there. From social media content it doesn't look bad and as per official statistics it isn't doing bad either. However it is clear that it is no role model state any longer.

The propensity of Punjabis on both sides to migrate to gora lands cannot necessarily be seen as an evidence of any dire situation. I think it is something that happens because it has been happening for a long time. There is an existing support system and established formal and informal channels which make this possible. Just like many people from Kerala can be found in the gulf countries, or Gujaratis could be found in East African countries. I can go on.

The thing with Indian Punjab is that it is a one or two trick pony, not able to move beyond traditional industries. Open any national level job portal, you will find it impossible to find jobs in Punjab. There are no new age industries recruiting from there and tech sector is virtually non existent beyond a few campuses in Mohali. This itself is not a bad thing, after all not every state can be good at everything. All have their strengths and weaknesses.

To cut a long story short, I am neither cynical, nor optimistic about Punjab's future. I do wish it diversifies a little more, but given its location at the edge of the country, industries are reluctant to set up shop there due to logistical reasons. As for services sector, though it is more location agnostic, new age talent is increasingly preferring more 'chilled out' cities like Mumbai / Pune / Bangalore / Hyderabad and I can't see IP reversing that trend either.
