Indian power system becomes largest operating synchronous grid in the world

damn you indian members........you guys are as responsible as these trolls for derailing the thread....why cant indian members ignore trolls on this forum???....stop feeding them for godz sake..........this happens in every single freaking thread...indians over here have a very bad habit of replyin to trolls , wasting their time posting long long paragraphs .......

people....they will keep on barking the same thing till their last breath so plzzzz stop feeding these trolls

just report and ignore them...its simple as that

Guys stop replying to this guy favabeans, he is a troll and he is derailing this thread with his nonsense, even I can talk about a imaginary friend of mine who is privy to the "secret" news that Chinese PM & President are on RAW payroll.

muslims have never met a controversy that they didn't like. "9/11 was an inside job", "the Jews did it", and "Indian power grid was made by the chinese".

.
the Indian national grid is not connected to the southern grid..........the proposed link is between the southern grid of India and sri lanka

India has connected its southern power grid with the national grid in an effort to relieve power shortages in the southern part of India. It cost the company $154 million to set up the system.
Power Grid Corp. of India has energized Raichur-Sholapur transmission line that has been interconnected with the national grid. The Raichur-Sholapur 765KV single-circuit transmission line has thereby achieved the one nation-one grid-one frequency system.

I think favabeans is a Chinese, his writing style is Chinese.

there are disadvantages also .. if proper safety measures are not taken then there is a chance that the entire country can go into darkness ! the chances are minimal but real !
they too buddy ! Even delhi purchases heavily from maharashtra and gujrat ( northern grid )
There is very less likely of this happening. The HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) links interconnecting the regional grids apart from allowing the power transfers between the asynchronous grids, they also regulate the power transfers between the grids and quickly responds to any anomaly in the stability of the system. Also, there is the regional load dispatch centers (LDC's) which do real time monitor and control the entire power generation, distribution and consumption network using the SCADA (Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition) Systems.

there was a case where there was a complete outage in 2-3 regional grids

That was because the LDC's didn't perform the way they were supposed to work. Many a times, they are forced to lower their load shedding parameters due to political reasons and sometimes it causes a cascading effect due to power generation and demand imbalances..

The HVDC links (either long HVDC lines or back-to-back stations) act like power regulating valve between two grids and naturally act against any run away cascade effects which cause grid instability.

in India.....each state has one state load dispatch centre to control these things........how come all of them didnt performed at the same time..........

or are you saying....due to abnormality in one state and cascading effect....there was a outage in the reginal grid

Yes, there was a cascade run away effect which cause the grids to go into instability. HVDC links are immune to these kinds of instabilities..

but all regional grids arent connceted by HVDC links....

The cascade run away effects happen only in grids which are synchronized without any HVDC links. Only way to interconnect grids which are not synchronized (same frequency (and voltage)) is via HVDC links.. HVDC links allow the regional grids to operate at different frequencies.. The grid frequency is a measure of its stability. The more closer a grid frequency to its designed operating frequency, the more stable the grid is.
Most grids are designed to operate within +/-5% of its nominal 50Hz. frequency, which means that the grids cannot operate below 47.5Hz. during peak demand. However, some states don't allow load shedding and allow the frequency fall below 47.5Hz. which causes a grid instability. In such cases even if one generating station trips, the entire grid can collapse within a fraction of a second.

the southern grid was connected with the national grid via HVDC link......does that mean they will be operating at different frequencies......
