Vijendra is going to Semi final. His next opponent Abbas Otoev is a crap boxer won due to biased judgeing (like Sangwan case the commentetors got surprised how he managed 3 points in last round).....and above all dont forget Vijendra defeated him in Asian Games final. Remember the score....... 7-0

I dont think Monoj Kumar can match up against Thomas Staker who is a top class boxer (hope I am wrong) but other three and Mary Kom have the potential to go all the way.....

bro u forget devendro singh from manipur he knocked out their opponent in 90 second in last match.
skip 1.09 second

I didn't forget him..but he is too aggressive..against any experienced boxer,he will be in a big trouble..lets hope he win next two bout..

too many games yet to take place..entire wrestling event is due..hope this time,we'll get more medals than beijing..

Vijay Kumar who won Silver medal today is from the Indian Army

Indian Army Zindabad :yahoo:

Kumar hails from Harsour village of Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh and is presently serving as subedar in the Indian Army.

a.) Himachal Pradesh CM have announced a reward of US$ 200,000 to Vijay Kumar

b.) Sahara India will give him 3 kgs of pure Gold

Devendro Has two very good boxers in his category- a Chinese and a Korean. If he progresses he will meet the Chinese only in Semi-final after ensuring a Bronze. Dont forget he reached QF of the World Championship where he lost the Korean (World ranked 2) but almost unsettled him in the first round. Top class technique and some surprising decision and some fouls committed by Devendro saved the day for the Korean despite getting knocked down on floor twice. Now he is in national camp for one year with good coaching stuffs and experienced team mates. Expect him to be a better boxer now. But, he should not leave his agressiveness. It is something makes every opponent nervous.

We were much ahead of countries like South Africa, NZ in commonwealth games medal tally but now they are ahead of us. The Archery, badminton,Tennis and even shooting team couldnt perform like they did two years back.

Silver aur bronze mil gaya Gold abhi baki hai ....................... :yahoo:  :victory:  :enjoy:

Thanks a lot Vijay u made us proud !!!!!!!!!!!

guys, shooting we have 2 medals... we have good chance in boxing, badminton, wrestling.

WHO WILL ACHIEVE A "BINDRA" THIS TIME??

Regardless of the number of medals we end up winning this has been the best Olympics yet for India. Many athletes missed medals by small margins. At least our athletes now can have the confidence that they belong to that stage, that confidence was never there before.

Absolutely, earlier Indian contingent were seen as just participants, slowly but steadily we are making our presence felt, now we are not seen as an easy pushovers but a real competitors, look at the game of Saina vs Chinese, the Chinese was cheering every point she scored against Saina, she knew that here is a girl who is really threatening a complete Chinese dominance in the game.

Now if just Govt. & Private sector + public rise up to the occasion & make a Olympic culture possible in India, I am fully confident that in 20 years time, we will be in Top-5 of the medals tally.

+ If we look at various countries who remains in top-15 in medals tally, we will see that almost every nation has a sport or two which they completely dominate, like Koreans in Archery, Chinese in Badminton, Cubans in Boxing, etc. If we can concentrate on four sports in which we have a very good performance, we can really be up in that medals tally, the sports can be Archery, Boxing, Shooting & Wrestling. Look at the medals which each sports has in Olympics:

Archery - 12 medals
Boxing - 52 medals
Shooting - 45 medals
Wrestling - 71 medals
---------------------------------

Total - 180 medals :woot:

just concentrating on these four games can do wonders for India in Medals tally.

I would like to see India finish top 25. ...that will be a huge achievement for us ,seeing the th epast record...whats the best about this olypmics is that we have started to get medal sin individual events and our participant sin few particular games are seen as the best in that game and world class...not just a participant but a tough challenege....like Boxing, wrestling, badminton and shooting. I would not be surprised if in few years we vecome the no. 1 country in boxing like cuba.

Devendro Singh biggest hurdle will be his next round bout against 2009 world champion and 2008 olympics bronze medalist mongolian Pürevdorjiin Serdamba. if he wins that bout , he is assured of a medal .
