Indian Navy Outgunned As China Launches Its Biggest Destroyer

They can use DF 21 from land to sink a ship, they don't need antiship missile on a ship, stupid Indians.

The new destroyer also has 4 active arrays in S band. Other bands are just extra mechanism for detection.

So does our destroyers.

It seems to me that Barak-8 wants to be a missile for all. I am not sure I like this kind of one-size-fit-all design philosophy. HHQ-9 is certainly not for anti-ship missiles. Anti-ship missile usually gives defenders not much time to react because it skims at sea level. If I were the designer, I wouldn't use VLS-launch missile to knock them down. A more nimble and faster reacting missiles like HQ-10 work better.

Not at all ,barak -8 is specialist sea skimmer missile killer. We don't have much problem with enemy aircraft as our ships will operate either under carrier aircover or aircover from land,PN has no carriers. In any case these days aircaft attacking ships use standoff weapons from huge ranges so,directly attacking aircraft is not enough. You have to take out the cruise missile which is the biggest threat. This is what barak-8 does,it can shoot down a missile 500 metres from the ship and has a range of 100 kms ,extendable upto 150 with added booster.Thats as good a combo as we will get.Israel designed the missile specifically to shoot down supersonic yakhont missiles in iranian or hizbullah hands and it arms all its new ships. The only real equivalent is the aster.

I am not saying yours don't have S-band AESA, am I? I am just saying Chinese ones have extra. Who doesn't like extra toys to play?

.
X-band is better for target tracking and illumination because it has superior resolution.

L-band is great for quickly scanning large volumes of space and detecting the approach of stealth targets because current stealth fighters are not designed to evade L-band radars.

S and C bands are for tracking non-stealth targets at great ranges with adequate resolution, even good enough to produce a firing solution.

Combining L, S, C, X bands together, you have a system that can detect, track, and lock on any target in any scenario.

So does Indian destroyers. And since when L band radars have stated detecting stealth? L band is a long range radar with longer wavelengths?

Anyway if you are saying you have those radars then IN destroyers have those radars too. So...

Lol.You thing having a greater missile load makes u invincible?
Kolkata's MF-STAR israeli radar is better, its ACTAS atlas elktronik active towed array sonar is better, the brahmos is also better than any missile the chinese have(particularly after the removal of range restrictions and increase range from 500-700 kms) and finally chinese don't have anything comparable to the barak-8 which is in the class of aster.
As for Kolkata class, there is enough space to easily double the number of barak-8s as necessary during a refit.

You have built a powerful ship no doubt, but it gives you no great advantage in ASW at all,u think u can sail into IOR with an armada and hope to survive when IN will shatter u from all 3 directions- surface of the sea with our surface fleet with brahmos and klubs, from the air P-8 poseidons with harpoons and sukhois from andaman and south india carrying brahmos in salvoes. And from underwater kilo and akula with klub, scorpene with harpoons.Andaman is our unsinkable carrier we can control the shipping in the entire region basing land- based anti-ship missiles as well as sukhois there(backed up by those from south india).A few more missiles on a bigger ship doesnt change the fact that any armada entering IOR with hostile intentions will be faced with a overwhelming attack from 3 dimensions.
So better pipe down and focus on uncle sam in the scs, because if war breaks out it will not be american carriers that will break you it will be the USN SSN fleet that will slaughter PLAN.

Feel free to pop up once in a while with a couple of subs of a ship in the IOR to get some PR and catch some headlines, reassure pakistani fanboys u exist as a factor in the IOR however illusory that may be,but don't get delusional on trying to challenge IN in IOR,u have enough on your hand in scs as it is.Try that and not only will you fail regardless of if u have a 20,000 tonne cruiser but will also drive India completely to the US camp, and complete the strategic encirclement of china.

Dude have you tried becoming a stand-up comic as that was hilarious?!

The Type-55 carries the 3rd generation ship-borne AESA radar and will be simply cutting edge. Just it's size will give it a hell of a lot of advantage over smaller radars due to power output.

If China gets any resistance from Andaman, it will launch many hundreds of cruise and ballistic missiles at it to take out it's military asssets.

Honestly, China does not even think India is any competition and this destroyer is really overkill for India. It is designed for US really.

PS - Type 95 SSNs will mercilessly hunt Indian subs and surface ships so not much need for Chinese surface or air assets to even get involved.

One extra radar doesn't mean extra firepower even though extra awareness. Just making a ship heavy with 200 missile and 10 different radars don't make that ship powerful. It works well for long range operations but if you come with that ship and say you will dominate IOT then it's a little misplaced.

Well. It is for everything. So you can say it is a specialist for whatever you like to pick.

lots of pent up indian frustration expressed in chest thumping manner. Looks like once again PDF failed to recognize talent and bestowed "PDF THINK TANK" label instead of "PDF HOTAIR TANK" label.

The fanboys out here think it's their video game and they make the rules.

Damn you video gamers!!

I am quite sure you were in my ignore list,so how come i'm seeing ur message?:what:
Oh well time to correct the error.

Awareness enables the missiles to be effective. More awareness makes it more effective. Missile and radar have very close working relationship.

What did i say that was wrong? Its not chest thumping to say IN is dominant in IOR(despite the irritation of some bangladeshis and paksitanis),Andaman is a massive strategic asset for us or that many of the individual components of our ships are technically better despite lesser tonnage and payload.I'm just stating the truth. Its ur problem u can't handle the truth.

Let's see if this thread survives tomorrow morning and we can go again.

I have a feeling that you don't agree with me because India currently does not have a warship with such a radar combination. Once India has it, you will celebrate its new capability and forget the fact you disagreed with me.

i don't have to agree with you or visa versa. There are many factors that contribute to ones doctorine and the ship gets designed accordingly. A ship serves a perticular purpose and in a naval scenario it's hardly ship versus ship anymore else battleships would have been alive who had lot of firepower and were designed fighting another ship so your ship better than my ship comparison is misplaced it's always ship versus assignment and my ship of completed assignment than anyone's ship then I'm good. Be it a small ship or a large ship, the 1971 war of India Pakistan is a testimony of that when small missile boats of displacement of 1000-2000 tons accomplished their objectives.

I weigh things from that angle. And I don't believe in bigger larger etc things.
