Kind of harsh @SRBM2, and not true. Sikorsky has supported a variety of foreign navies who have the S-70B and has done so with great success. Just ask the Turkish Navy. They are very happy with the aircraft. US did not blackmail anyone. How do you "Blackmail" a country? I see you are passionate about this but let's not let our emotions speak for us. The facts would dispute your position. And I take great offense at your calling the S-70B mediocre equipment. Singapore has the undisputed best and most modern armed forces in the Far East and they chose the S-70B and have bought more. What does that tell you? I'll put the S-70B against any ASW or ASuW aircraft out there on cost vs. capability basis and it wins hands down!

Yes it is very true. Sikorsky has no power when US regime decides to blockade something. The US has blackmailed France to sue their over BNP-Paribas banks.
They pressured on Germany to drop the Rheinmetal deals and since germany is a b*tch that listens always to what uncle sam says it does so without hesitation. In case of Iraq we saw how unreliable the US is as a military hardware provider, they recieved the money and were unwilling to deliver bought equipment.


I don't care how much offence you take from that because that does not mean anything, we are not talking here about your feelings and Singapore is a country that is compltley allined with uncle sam, they mainly buy west stuff because it is a vassal in the east.

Sikorksy produces good helicopters but they are overprized but many of those versions are indeed mediocre compared to cost/effectivness factor and other helicopters of same class.

You did not come up with facts but accuse others of same thing to avoid a discussion about a matter that is plain to understand and take direct comperisions.
Yes i am anti USA (Regime) not technology, but as biased like you are with your "S-70B best hands down" before even making a single argument why it is better or against what it is better you already proclaimed it is better without comparing it, that is called fanboyism.

Sad day today. Just learned a Turkish Navy S-70B crashed into the mountains after leaving the Cengiz Topel airbase. Visibility was pour and the mountains were obscured at the time of the crash. I spent many weeks at the Cengiz Topel base supporting delivery of S-70B aircraft and came to know many TN officers and crew. I enjoyed working with them and I am very saddened by this accident. We always have to remember that while we all blog here about the MRH program, there are men and women risking their lives for their country. Whatever the MRH decision, let's hope the men and women of the Indian Navy get an aircraft that they can rely on.

Thank-you for this information. The aircraft they flew is an S-70B Seahawk. It is very different than the MH-60R although the aircraft look similar. It is not the export designation for the MH -60R, they are completely different aircraft.

Please read my previous posts in this forum. I believe the S-70B is the better aircraft and I go into detail in some of those posts.

Well it would be pretty important- any such JV winning out and then delivering NMRHs to the IN would take, what, 5-6 years? At least the stop-gap procurement of 16 (hopefully more) would ease some of the (serious) pain the IN is facing on this front right now with their Sea King and Ka-28 fleet. You seriously can't think the current situation of flying 30+ year old aged Helos from $1BN+ Destroyers is acceptable?

Wasnt IN deploying Dhruv as stop gap ASW platform? can it be used as stopgap MRH for navy?

HAL had developed an ASW version, which however didn't met IN's requirements, that's why they are searching for foreign N-LUHs in the same class of the Dhruv and the NMRH above too. Naval Dhruv will only be used as SAR and uttility helicopters, mainly from shore bases.

I believe either vendor will agree to some sort of co-production agreement involving technology transfer to help India "stand up" an indigenous manufacturing capability once the number of aircraft researches a certain threshold. Sikorsky has done that with Turkey and Poland. India already makes parts for Sikorsky's S-92 aircraft, so some infrastructure is already in place. I would love to comment further but I don't speak the language being used.
