Indian Navy in talks with france for 2 mistral Class LHD Ships

Perhaps all the shipyards are fully booked. India has a very limited number of shipyards capable of handling such projects.

Only one shipyard is capable of building carriers and the one in Kochi. Vizag yard won the LPD tender for Turkish ship. Seems they have updated the yard to build large ships but they are yet to be tested.
'basically' I did add that qualifier

but common sense, do you really think an air force the size of the IAF and with our requirements will settle on 36 jets only ?

who knows, I might be wrong but probably not, wait and see.

100 is not coming. IAF is strict on MRFA as it would bring some technologies.
The GoI wants to order another 36 and be done with it and order Tejas Mk2 for all MRFA. The problem being even if 72 or 90 is ordered, what technologies will Dassault share with us? They still hasn't shared anything or invested in offsets according to the original 36 anyway. As of now it's confusion overrated. Navy wants to see where this tender goes for its own 36 MRFA order which it reduced from 57.

You think Russia has a choice?

How can Mistral be superior when it's smaller used a more inferior and landing craft when compare to Wasp and 075 LHD.
Wasp is not multi mission

With mistral they can integrate russian american and eu weapons in which ever config they want

Mistral ships even uae was interested on them

Stop talking nonsense.

Mistral is very good and effective. Maybe Type-075 has a larger load, but it does not fit Russia's needs. China can develop a similar Mistral version to export

True, Just A Year Later, Print 2015, Russia Entered The Syrian Campaign On The Side Of Official Damascus, And Then It Suddenly Became Clear That The Russian Navy Did Not Have Enough Shipps to Supply ITS MILITARY GROUP IN THE SAR, AND IT HAD TO Rent And Reserve Everything That Was Still Able To Float. It Turned Out That Two Universal Amphibious Assault Ships, Designed to Deliver 900 Marines Each, 16 Helicopters, Attack or Anti-Submarine, Up to 60 Armored Personnel Carriers, 70 Trucks and Up to 13 Tanks, Would Be Very Useful. More Importantly, The Mistrals Are Not Only Large Transport Ships, They Are Also Specialized Command Ships Created to Control A Naval Formation or Heterogeneousous Fortces. Print Particular, The French-Built Udc Would Undoubtedly Be Useful For Coordinating The Actions Of The Russian Military Carring In The Sar, The Russian Aerospace Forces and The Mediterranean Squadron, WHERE THE MISTRALS Acted AS ITS Multifunctional "Core".

075 is even better suit for Russia Navy. Bigger, carry more load , has faster breaching means. It got to do with politics than suitable or not. Russia buying Chinese arms will be a bad advertising for Russia arms export.

Just a question for Indian Navy, what is the purpose of buying these French ships? Send troops to take over some islands in South China Sea? Or you need to invade Sri Lanka?

IN has given bids to indian shipyards for the designing of the lhds. They can partner with a foreign consortium for design but the lhds will be Indian and will be built in India

These mistrl class ships do not match the rfp. It says over 40,000 tonnes. Which is almost an aircraft carrier

now GoI understands importance of having strong navy so i don't think IN will mind about weight if its fulfills its requirements

Another thing is the delivery time. Maximum is 5 years thats pretty fast

Your own MMRCA is not happening. I mean the one made in India. In the end you would go for at least 36 more Rafale and most probably 100 for Air Force and separate number for Navy.

Power projection. IN has dream of global power projection. Able to deploy heavy equipment and troops global rapidly. China has and India also wants.

Basically you haven't contradicted me so I don't understand your post.

Relief and evacuation. As of now we have smaller ships capable of carrying troops.

The latest war in Yemen, Indian citizens we're evacuated in destroyers/frigates in multiple trips. If we had an capable Lhd/lpd we could have evacuated in a single go. When isis took over Iraq, Libyan war, we had to send our destroyers and frigates to pick up people when air route became impossible.

As for war, it can help in moving things to Andamans etc. Can be repurposed as drone ships, heli ship as well anyway
