The delay is of one year for sure, IMO this delay will make IN seriously think about the QE AC offer since IN is facing troubles on all fronts as far as ACs are concerned, INS Viraat is 50+ year old ship, it will hardly find any use in a war scenario, it's more in the repairs than on the sea, the only reason INS Viraat is still in service because IN don't want to remove it's carrier navy tag. IN will be lucky if IAC-1 gets inducted in 2017 + IAC-2 is still on the drawing boards. INS viky delayed by a year is just the news IN din't wanted to hear.

+ This delay not only is a shock for IN or India but Russian defence industry also, they will certainly lose the confidence of biggest importer of Russian weapon - India, also other countries will become suspicious while dealing with Russia in arms.

Even if they offer 1 more Akula 2 & PAK-FAs


We have replacements for some of the Russian weapons but we don't have a replacement for Russia.

Leaving Russia will be a Technological Suicide along with Strategic. No country except France can offer many advance techs and weapons without any question of sanctions.

But delay is costing a lot which is more frustrating.

Latest news is,

Vikramaditya is still capable of making up to 22 knots, aircraft tests are continued including night flights. On 25th she is expected back at Sevmash where 3 boilers will be repaired,not replaced.
