-Heart Sutra

"Emptiness is form, and form is emptiness.Form is not distinct from emptiness, neither is emptiness different from form. That which is emptiness, is form; and that which is form is emptiness. So is true also, with sensation, conciousness, impressions, and knowing."

One thing I have always found baffling is the portrayal of Lord Krishna, who's name is translated as "dark" ie dark color, but he is always portrayed as blue, why this contradiction, hopefully our Hindu friends can better explain this.

No, he is dark skinned, but he is portrayed blue in pictures and idols because it is easier to show facial features in light blue compared to black.

In Hinduism, Gods like Lord Vishnu, Lord Krishna, Lord Ram and Lord Shiva are shown as having blue or dusky skin. The color of the skin is shown as either blue orsometimes black . Hindu religion is full of symbolisms and the blue color is also a symbol. Most avatars of Hindu gods are also shown in blue color.
Blue is the color of the infinite. All Hindu gods are an attempt by the human mind to give form to the formless Brahman (God). The color blues symbolizes immeasurable and all pervading reality – formless Brahman.
Swami Chinmayananda talking on the subject says that whatever is immeasurable can appear to the mortal eye only as blue ; thus the cloudless summer sky is blue to us because the endless distance of space is interpreted by the physical eye as blue in color.
The blue color thus teaches us that what appears as Lord Vishnu, Krishna and Shiva is the all pervading reality. Brahman (the Supreme Reality) takes a particular form to satisfy the human mind.

Be fearless and pure; never waver in your determination or your dedication to the spiritual life. Give freely. Be self-controlled, sincere, truthful, loving, and full of the desire to serve...Learn to be detached and to take joy in renunciation. Do not get angry or harm any living creature, but be compassionate and gentle; show good will to all. Cultivate vigor, patience, will, purity; avoid malice and pride. Then, you will achieve your destiny.

A beautiful quote of Lord Krishna ~ From the Gita, which I have read. :)

krushna means "dark". the other name "shyam" means dark too. Blue is the color of the sky and blue is the color of Krishna!

krishna also "yah karshati sah" "he who is attractive". note the verb root "karsh" means to pull.

thus, krishi means ploughing, (a)karshan means attraction, and Krishna means the attractive one.

Actually all of Bhagvad Gita is conversation between Krishna and the Pandava prince Arjuna... When Arjuna refuses to Take Fight against Pandavas ... who were his Cousins ... So he Said to Krishna How Can i Fight My Brothers ... what ever i would achieve by this War is Useless after Killing my brother & my Teacher... its better i return to the Forest & Leave the Kingdom to my Cousins ... He became Confused Full of Doubts ...

To Clear this Sri Krishna advises him... & the Most Divine Book of Bhagavat Gita is given to earthlings ... Bhagavat Gita is a Part of Mahabaharata...

After Listening to this Advice of Sri Krishna Arjunas all Doubt r cleared & he Proceeds in the battle field to fight his Cousins ...
