My experience was, on a daily I used to get sermons as to why a certain religious text is good, and why I should learn kalma.

And if Hindu-Muslim marriages have reduced today, then it's because the youngsters are more aware and clear about the kind of person they want as their better half.

umm, that is more to do with social/political factors, won't you say?? otherwise, how would a hindu boy be more automatically suited on a human level to a hindu girl than a muslim boy??

most of today's youngsters in india ( all communities, especially male, especially urban ) are more reactionary, frivolous, callous, selfish and non-socially-aware... look at their representation on pdf... they certainly are not the socially/poltically aware ones who formed the naxal movement decades past or contributed to creating the environment for whatever minimal progressiveness we see now in 2015.

In my opinion, people are more politically aware today than they were in the past- earlier they were easily manipulated due to their ignorance.

yes, many are... for example, recently the parents of three toddlers filed a petition in the supreme court in the toddlers' names, seeking ban all over india on firecrackers starting with diwali, dussehra and to applied to all other engagements ( including weddings ).

and ladies are now more willing to file complaints about crimes against them, whether by "eve teasers" or by husbands.

but the society is largely still unaware 68 years on, otherwise how would you explain female police constables being harassed for dowry, female university students being "honor killed" by their parents and 50,000+ workers in ibm-india being suddenly removed in february 2014.

well, in many parts of india, it has become dangerous in the last one year to talk of caste oppression, as we saw in the case of the dalit student intellectual in karnataka.

but certainly, because of the work of the previous decades, as we saw in the haryana dalit children burning case, the media reported the case and did not try to hide it away.
