One thing that is quite clear from this Gen Bakshi's opnion as well the from the restlessness of other Indians is that they have little or no faith in ovehyped Chahbhar project which some Impulsive Indians are even touting as so called Gwader Killer. In-fact from India's Point of view Chahbahar is nothing more than any other wierd buisness port in the rest of the world because of the following reason:

1. India will never have exclusive access to the Chahbahar port. The Indians are acting and behaving as if they own that port and the logic being purported is that they are the one having big Investments there. Wats so unique here? China and Russia are also there. In near future Indians can never match the trade and purchase power of china.Moreover After extending of Maritime boundaries of Pakistan by the UN Iran-India pipeline is almost dead. Infact such pipeline will be now be routed towards china now. In the face of that Iran will never put all its egg in the Indian basked and earn the ire of china.
2. Considering Iran's regional ambitions, Iran would want it to be regional buisness hub which would be incomplete without Russia and china.
3. Russia considers Iran as its area of influence and it would never ever share it with any other country.Considering its influence as a leading deference equipment supplier it has far more chips to play with that the so called Indian Investment Card.

2. In View of all of the above any Indian Naval base at Chahbar is not possible even dreams.
Hence the Indian dream of owning and dominating the Indian ocean is shattered long before it started.

Entire project will take atleast 15 years for completion according to their official estimate .
We have 7.4% growth without any serious reforms and a single GST will round up that in to around 10%.
So atleast 7.5%+ in coming years.
Chabhar will operationalise in 2016.

Have you ever created a strategy across the globe for a multi-national organization, the WB or the IMF or an entire country's system? I don't get that 1% from your post. But yet, you are trying to sound like the Chief Economist of India, amazing what one billion people connected through the internet can do. India and Pakistan's economies have NO comparison as the size of the Indian economy is about 29 times bigger than Pakistan so let's understand that.

Second, whether India grows to 7% or 22%, its economic system is entirely independent of Pakistan's, and vis-a-vis. Not every conversation requires an India - Pakistan comparison. In some of the things, India, due to her size, population and market at this point in time, is way ahead of Pakistan and will always remain much ahead.
Having said that, now Pakistan's economy is much smaller, but so is the population. She has to feed and bring up their middle class which is 4 times smaller than India's. So what they can achieve with mere 4-5%, India, due to its size and population, has to achieve with 8-9%. That's just a fact.

And the project won't take 15 years. This is a 5-7 year project and you can count on it. I've been monitoring progress around some of other Chinese projects and these guys are building stuff at a much faster pace than a lot of nations. Plus, the cash infusion, job growth, real estate development around the trade route will start to happen in a year or so. A couple of million jobs, in construction, engineering and all other areas, with the cash inflow will be more than enough to jump start the economy.

In the next 5 years, Pakistan will become a competition to India's educated labor. There is no doubt about it. No one's saying that India would lose all the money and investments to Pakistan, that's a crazy idea. But India will lose about $ 10-20 billion over time. That's probably nothing for India, but for Pakistan, it would be additional icing on the cake. Add pass through revenue through the trading corridor, it would really take Pakistan's economy to the top fifteen. Its a 7-10 year game at this time.

The Iranians I know here in my town have told me that the Chinese are every where in Iran buying,running businesses and investing in Iran. So Iran will side with China absolutely no doubt heck China could pay for the building of chabar port and pay a lot more as well!
